It is love that is not feigned. (1^st Peter 1:22; 2:1-3)

Imagine a sail boat floating on the turbulent sea of wicked mankind. Our sail boat has a set of rudder oars. Our sail boat has sails and a fore-sail. Our sail boat also has a tie cable affixed to an anchor. Across the turbulent sea of wicked mankind our Father waits for us in the Promised Land, his arms open and ready to receive us. Looking at the trip across this turbulent sea we see that it is going to be a stormy fright filled journey. Never-the-less, we are motivated to bravely face our fears and begin taking this journey. What motivates us to do this thing?

Similarly, we see our child out in the water drowning. We know that we are not a real good swimmer our self, but no one else is around that can save her. Forgetting our fears and our doubts, we run to the waters edge and dive in. We pour all of our strength into getting to our child as quickly as possible. What motivates us to do this thing?

A group of people are saying hateful things about us because they are angry at the message we bear of Christ. They are taking to pelting us with stones. We could hate them and resent them but we choose not to. Instead, we ask God to forgive them, for they know not what they do. What motivates us to do this thing?

We would like to relax and watch a television program but all that is on are shows featuring violence, sexual promiscuity, occult mysticisms, and greedy pursuits. Instead of giving into the desire to watch television, we choose to do something spiritually healthy. What motivates us to do this thing?

Answer: unfeigned love.
