Could it be "we" are not like "the NT Christians" ?
Who were excited to bear Christ's name, unlike most folks whose priority
is to
limit "worship" & services in a building a few minutes each Sunday.
Interestingly the congregation where I am a member, has Bastrop Church
of Christ on the SOF,
down the road is another congregation of exciting folks who has as their
SOF Bastrop Christian Outreach Center.
Both use BCOC. One BCOC, is very active in asking "DO you know the
Jesus who loves you",
Both built a new building 2years ago with only 80-90 members in regular
attendance, now one has nearly 500
folks whose assemblies are very enthusiastic, who are the first to
minister to fire, criminal victims and have "Pastors"
who have professional training as marriage & family therapist.
Wonder which the community thinks is a "church" doing what the name "of
Christ would imply ?
BTW some of the "church" where I am an active member are actively
promoting studying the actual scriptures
and comparing what they say against what we practice as our traditions &
opinions of others have taught us to believe
