I didn't realize I was making fun of anyone. I thought I was commending you and adding to the list another respected source. But sometimes impressions are left that are not intended and if so I plea guilty. The scholars concluded that first, the individuals kept their contributions at home until Paul came. Second, that the first day of the week the church gathered.
Hi ED,
I went back and read what you wrote and I can understand how you could be agreeing with me. I apologize for misunderstanding you.
ED: You ask a series of questions for which I have no answers. I simply do not know.
ED: Yes the scholars mention the awkward Greek and it contributes to their conclusion that it indicates the Lord's Day.
ED: What I am saying is that the Lord's Day is the first day of the week. Moreover, that there was a day when the disciples assembled and when disciples consistently forsook it, this was an indication of their drifting from Christ. Instead they are encouraged to exhort each other as the day approached. I believe that day is the Lord's Day. If the first day of the week isn't the Lord's Day, what day is?
Norman: Ed, the Bible does not say what the Lord's Day is; therefore, it would be foolish for me say it was a certain day. The question that we are discussing is not when the Lord's Day was, the question is; does the Bible say that the Christians lay by in store when they went to the assembly every Sunday. If the collection was made at home, then, the argument that church met every Sunday because they were commanded to place their money in the church treasury every Sunday, is a moot point.
ED: To break bread in Acts 20 is a reference to the LS, I believe, and yes, I believe they also worshiped in other ways.
Acts 20:7Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread. This is what scripture says. It does not say *every* and it does not say *Lord's Supper*. That is added.
ED: I believe it was the LS and an assembly for worship.
ED: What is biblical? Paul was in a hurry. Paul stayed 7 days (stayed = delayed). He met with the disciples on Sunday, they worshiped and he left immediately following. Doesn't sound so much like speculation when you take the biblical facts.
Norman: I believe you we will agree that *in your opinion* and *in my opinion* are equal when it comes to creating law of God that everyone must follow. I also believe we would agree that that the early church fathers did not always agree with what scripture teaches. I've run out of time & must take my grandson home.
