[Church_of_Christ] Re: "The restoration movement"
Clay; ED here
Clay's response: "OUT" of the sects? That sounds divisive to me. Why wouldn't you just teach them a better understanding
and "encourage" them to stay with their family and friends and they TEACH ALL OF them what you taught them. That way the "word" would spread rapidly like it did in the early church.
ED: It sounds divisive to you because you often use words without understanding their meanings. "Sect" by its very definition is a divisive group and to come out of it means to leave the divisiveness and return to unity. Here is another reason you might consider reading more of the Restoration leaders. A person learns things when he reads good material. To speak of ideas and concepts knowledgably a person must have read enough as know what he is talking about before he can properly discuss it.
Clay's response: See if they would consider the suggestion for unity instead of being divisive by tearing family units apart and
expecting the "better understanding" Christian to be divisive, by leaving those they can best influence. Don't you think that is a better idea?
ED: You say you are for unity but you are as divisive as anyone I know. You are encouraging people to reject biblical practice in the name of some claimed freedom, fomenting discontent and strife, and are well on your way to contributing to another split among brethren and all the while claiming you are for unity and against divisiveness.
Clay: Now I like that Bro Ed, that's exactly what I do. As to your reference, guided by that principle, are you meaning "practicing primitive Christianity"
ED: "practicing primitive Christianity" is the principle that guides. George? If I thought that home assembly was anything more than incidental I would certainly practice it. George has that right if he thinks it was a part of God's will. I respect that and count it his right and he my brother. I practice Rom 15:7. I have not seen George fomenting strife and division as I have seen in others.
