I've always understood this passage to be Peter telling Simon that Simon
had no part nor lot in the matter of Kingdom business (e.g., the church,
salvation, Life). But now that you suggest that Peter was using the
phrase "this matter" to refer specifically to the transmission of
spiritual gifts, I can see that reading. I'm not convinced of it (your
reading of it seems "forced" to me), but I can see it. I appreciate you
pointing it out.
