RE: [Church_of_Christ] Re: Questions on Marriage

I'm so glad that you know my heart

loving the sinner and hating the sin....
even though I told you that I do.
Shawn writes: It has nothing to do with one's heart. How long are you willing to associate with a non-believer who continues to behave in a manner that you believe is sinful?
Please explain how sin is separated from the sinner and how this idea is biblical? I firmly understand that you believe that you can do this and at the same time, that belief does not make it a reality.
You must be God...in order to know that.
Oh, but wait....you said we couldn't have
the nature of God.
Shawn writes: I do not profess to know your heart and I do know that the sin and the sinner cannot be separated just as faith and works cannot be separated. They must occur together to reflect either. Without the sinner there is no sin, without the faith in action, there is no faith. I do know that I do not have the nature of YHWH and neither do you or anyone else. You and I are flawed and fallible human beings created in the image of YHWH, not in or with His nature.
So I'm assuming that you are just being
very judgemental of me and my capabilities.
Shawn writes: Assumptions are seldom accurate.
You said it's not scriptural to have a God-like nature
Well I pity you....because with every passing day
and with every Word that I read I take on more of
God's nature because I am trying to be more like HIm.
Shawn writes: As we should all strive to be and that does not mean that we HAVE YHWH's nature.
My "LEDGER" as you so smugly asked about will be
as black as the sinful person that I am.
Shawn writes: Now who is judging hearts? No smugness made or intended. Are you making assumptions again?
I just pray that I have developed enough of a
GODLY NATURE that will allow me by the GRACE of God
to enter into a peaceful domain where I don't have to
fight evil every day.
Shawn writes: Why are you fighting evil? Evil has lost the war and the battle is the Lords! I don't have to fight evil, that's not my role and I do not have the authority to do so. The only authority that I have is to share the good news; to love YHWH and others, to do good to all people, especially the household of faith.
Explain to me how one does good to ALL people and denies them the rights and privileges that I enjoy?
Shalom,
Shawn

I have one more thing to say to you on this topic.
I have friends who several years ago had a brother who was gay.
He died from AIDS!
I drove two hundred miles(round trip) several times to see him in the hospital
because his sisters were my sisters in Christ and I loved them
and I loved his soul...even tho I didn't know him.
I stood by his bed and held his hand and laughed and talked with him
His sisters told me that "everytime" they went to the hospital he would ask about me.
I formed a bond with a gay person.
That does not mean that I didn't hate his lifestyle,
but I grew to love him.
So please don't give me " your" rheteric about it being impossible
to love the sinner and hate the sin.
Shawn writes: Perhaps it is your fiction, it is impossible to separate the two.
That man that I grew to love is just as precious to God as you or I
but He hated the sin.
Shawn writes: You and I are not YHWH and therefore do not have the capacity to separate the two.
If God can love the sinner and hate the sin and I have the nature of God
Shawn writes: I'm not sure where you've developed or received this "god-like" nature. It isn't scriptural.
Then why is it impossible for me to love the sinner and hate the sin too.
Shawn writes: answered above.
You can continue to put us in the category with Hitler's Nazi Party
or anyone else you chose....
Shawn writes: It is the behavior that is reminiscent of that historical event, not the people.
But I'll take my chances standing before God on the day of judgement
knowing that I was against the sin and fought to try and keep it from
overtaking our country.
Shawn writes: I'm not sure how any behavior can overtake a country. It's not impossible and yet the probability of such an event is remote.
You, I'm sure will do just the opposite....
One of us is wrong!
Shawn writes: We all take our changes when standing before YHWH. If YHWH's grace cannot address the failures and misunderstandings of
Either of us, then all of those who believe are in great peril.
I'm curious though, will your ledger reflect enough things that you are right about to offset the things on which you are wrong?
Shalom,
Shawn
