Subject: [FamilyofGod] Food for thought
Sitting here thinking about the things that I am facing personally right now with trials and the storms. I am wondering how some of our Biblical patriarchs faced what they did?
How did Noah's wife feel when her husband told her that God told him to build the ark when there was no signs of rain? Did she think that he was off his rocker? Did she try to discourage him? How did she handle all of the ridicule when she went to the market place? Is what she endured any worse than what I am going through now?
What about Mary, the mother of Jesus? Here is this girl betrothed to a man when the angel of the Lord came to her and told her that she was going to give birth to the Son of God and she had never even been with a man. To see you own son tortured the way that HE was and then to be crucified. Is what I am enduring now any worse than that? I think not.
The time that I have to endure here on earth is nothing compared to the time that we will spend in heaven. For, I am not laying my riches up here. Here they will just pass away. In heaven, they will be forever.
I think that each one of us notices that with each passing trial/storm that we go through if we will just lean on HIM we will do two things:
1. We will get stronger and the next trial won't be so hard for us to go through.
2. We will end up with a closer relationship with HIM.
There are times when hear depression knocking on my door. I will no longer let that rule my life. It will only make matters worse and I will just become more depressed. It's kind of like keep hitting your head against the wall. Sooner or later you going to realize that doing that is going to hurt. So, why do it? For myself, I know that something isn't right. There is something in my life that I need to change. It might be a relationship that is unhealthy, or it might be habit that I have picked up that I need to change from an unhealthy one to healthy one.
We all have times when we just want to sit down and have a pity party. Throw an temper tantrum before the Lord. (Doesn't all children every once in awhile?)Besides letting off steam what does that really do? Is it productive? If we would stop and look at other people who are in worse situations than what we are and they are not complaining and throwing a fit.We would feel better.
Heavenly Father,
I come before YOU to ask for your guidance through the storms and trials that we might be facing now, or that we will face in the future. Draw us closer to YOU so that we might have a closer relationship with YOU that YOU are wanting us to have.
I thank YOU and give YOU the praise.
In Jesus' wonderful name,
Amen
MaryC
