this scripture came to my mind on this confess to a preiest subject.....
1Ti 2:5 For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

There is however biblical backing for confession but there is no reason for the exclusivity taught in some churches.Rather it is a body of believers and ALL help one another

Jam 5:16 Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

The only time one is to call for priests per se (elders) is when help from the more mature in faith is needed.Truth is God expects all of us to be a kingdom of preist to God.

Jam 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

Exd 19:6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These [are] the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

A child needs to be looked after till he matures, but not prevented from growing by adults who want to see him perpetually an infant to "create a living for themselves".This is why some religions have a monopoly on everything in the church. God never intended the church to be run by the "few" it is supposed to be a company of believers who all contribute to the whole body so each and every one gets help and ministry that they could not get otherwise.
