Re: [Church_of_Christ] Re: The Good News!
Norman: You wrote: "Norman: What happens when the Baptist church or the Christian church in Denmark or Japan do the same thing the first century Christians did, would they be part of the church of Christ? Would they be denominations to those in the US, if not why are they denominations in the US? When we have the core principles of the gospel of Christ, does the different traditional practices make us denominations? If a group of people, anywhere, "do the same thing the first century Christians did", then they would be members of the church of God, church of Christ, or just 'the church.' - they would be "part of the church of Christ" in the sense that they are congregations. I have only seen a congregation of the Baptist church do the same thing the first century Christians did one time: one of the things they did was change their name to "Baptist church of Christ". I posted - twice - a verbatim reply from a Baptist preacher, and received one little reply that was of about as much use as a chicken snake in a henhouse. If that's the best anyone could do, then we are in a sorry state. By text msg, several had already told me that it would go unanswered the 2nd time I posted it. I asked, "Why? It's pertinent. Extremely timely." There's no point in giving the answers that I received - but they were very true. I'm sorry that I cannot answer your questions: I am just a Christian and just a member of the church. The church of Christ, if you will. Your questions would need to be addressed to the Baptists, Methodists, Pentecostals in the group - the overwhelming majority of the group. Thanks. Brent Jobe |
