It takes a total commitment in your mind to forgive someone, but when I think about what my Saviour forgave when he was headed to the cross. As well as what he forgave me for, all the things I did. When I came back into the church I laid it all on the alter... You feel such a cleaness when you leave it all behind. Its like you have a weight on you and when you leave it on the alter you feel a lot lighter.. You don't have so much hindering you from doing what God wants you to do.

With me it was my oldest bothers dad, He lived close to us and spent a lot of time at our house, when he was at home. When I think about all the kids he messed with, It makes me sick. I forgave him in my heart but I never told him to his face.

I haven't posted on here much lately. I have been going through this exact same thing myself. I spent about 12 years of my childhood being molested by the father of my step-father. I thought I had put it behind me until recently. Some issues have come up in my life that has brought all of this to light again. I have been a born-again, spirit filled Christian for a very long time now. Long enough that you would think I would have this behind me. I never forgave this man for what he did to me, and I never have forgiven myself. Because of this, it has always been difficult for me to understand how God could love me. It always seemed like whatever anyone else did, it was never as bad as what I have done. I don't know that it is always the devil talking this garbage to us. Sometimes I think it is just our thought process that has been shaped over the years. It is something that we have to ask God to help us change. It is a process. Not necessarily something that is going to happen overnight.

I was sitting in the pool yesterday and I finished reading the book of Mark. I took a highlighter and started underlining every time I read something that spoke of Jesus having compassion or love for someone. There are 2 times in the last several chapters where Jesus asks the question, what can I do for you? I am at work right now so I don't have my Bible with me. Mark 9:27, (I think) says "I do believe, help me in my unbelief." I applied this to myself and pray, I forgive, help me in my unbelief.

You know Naomi when you ask for forgivness its done, you don't have to wait because he knows your heart. To forgive yourself you just have to be open to realizing that you are forgiven, it should be a stepping stone, you can use what you know to help others.
