"My bow I have set in the cloud....... .not shall become again the waters for flooding to destroy all flesh." Genesis 9
This connection between Genesis and Revelation, has been a wonderful comfort given to me by God, since I have been a terrified person all my life, and loved the Bible, but felt much of the time like the "wicked" when I read descriptions of my attitudes and actions of fear. Reading in Revelation of the rainbow around the throne of Christ, after reading that the words are as many waters, gave me confidence as I eat that wonderful book, that the scripture says "The word of God is powerful and alive, dividing between the soul and the spirit, and the thoughts and inclinations of the heart", giving needed heart surgery. And the scripture which says it is for "teaching, rebuking and training in righteousness" (notice NOT CONDEMNATION) . Seeing as I get older, as John said, that if one comes to the light one sees that all is of God, fear dies down by the power of the Wonderful Counsellor, whose power alone holds me up. A poem:
The flood waters of human life
The roaring waves of constant strife
Make mankind seek in panic an ark
Terrified of drowning in the dark
But in the beginning the Word spoken
Is that flood waters be a love token
No more to destroy humanity
But to cleanse and teach of true mercy
That at the end of the exciting ride
We are ready to live by His side
Trusting Him in all circumstances
Watching for salvation that entrances
So that we learn the ardent thrill
Of waiting, floating, for His good will
Sure that nothing can ever destroy
But darkness always will bring light's joy
Dawn comes every morning on earth
Giving sunlight a beautiful birth
A prupose has each crashing wave
So wait in peace not fearing the grave
For even death He conquers, we've seen
And so the waters from fear His babes wean.
That they understand the safety of love
And no more their Maker or each other shove
As one all will then sing the praise true
Great and Marvelous Lover making new
Just and true His ways, Love Divine
No waves are danger but of that love a sign
For they create and make grow trust in Him
So fear not, knowing Love's Light's never dim.
