[FamilyofGod] Cattle Prods/Analogies

 

Just like with the lack of prayer meeting attendance, I can get very frustrated with people who are too busy “doing ministry” to do ministry.  In other words, between the shared activities at church and things at home and board meetings...they don’t have time to visit or call or email somebody in need: sick/depressed...  So I think I used the analogy that perhaps this type of person needed a poke with a cattle prod to get them going.  So often, in my one church especially, the same few people are stretched so thin trying to do all the visiting and phone calls, etc.  What’s worse, are the “pew warmers”, people who want all sorts of activities to go on at the church, but don’t want to do anything more than go to the service.

 

Anyway, that’s where my idea of some folks needing a bit of a zap comes from.
