I UNDERSTAND THE ANALOGY AND YOU ARE SO RIGHT. WE ARE DISCIPLES. DISCIPLES AND AMBASSADORS OF CHRIST. WE MUST REPRESENT HIM OUTSIDE THE FOUR WALLS OF THE CHURCH BUILDING. AND YOU ARE RIGHT THE SAME PEOPLE ARE STRETCHED TO THE LIMITS, ON THE OTHERHAND, THERE ARE SOME WHO ARE COMFORTABLE LIVING THEIR LIVES FOR THEMSELVES. SEEMS LIKE ALL TYPES NEED PRAYER. THE PRAYER FOR THE FIRST GROUP IS THAT THEY BE NOT WEARY IN WELL DOING. THE SLOTHFUL GROUP IS THAT THEIR MINDS BE RENEWED AND THAT THEY WILL WORK WHILE IT IS DAY FOR WHEN NIGHT COMES NO MAN CAN WORK.

WHERE'S THE CATTLE PROD? I MAY NEED IT FOR MYSELF SOMETIMES...

Just like with the lack of prayer meeting attendance, I can get very frustrated with people who are too busy “doing ministry” to do ministry. In other words, between the shared activities at church and things at home and board meetings...they don’t have time to visit or call or email somebody in need: sick/depressed. .. So I think I used the analogy that perhaps this type of person needed a poke with a cattle prod to get them going. So often, in my one church especially, the same few people are stretched so thin trying to do all the visiting and phone calls, etc. What’s worse, are the “pew warmers”, people who want all sorts of activities to go on at the church, but don’t want to do anything more than go to the service.

Anyway, that’s where my idea of some folks needing a bit of a zap comes from.
