Posted: 25 Apr 2010 09:10 PM PDT In the midst of a would-be insult, I have discovered my new favorite compliment: “You love Jesus too much.” It’s okay in American society to be a Christian, as long as you don’t love Jesus too much. Christ is nothing more than a label for most people, an identity through family tradition or something like that. Calling yourself a Christian sounds better than calling yourself an atheist, although most Christians would probably qualify as an atheist if they looked at the regular disobedience and omission of God from their lives. The fact is, sadly, that you’re a weirdo if you live your life the way God calls you to. Brothers and sisters, let’s start a new revival: BE WEIRD! If you are mocked, made fun of, looked at sideways, or even insulted for being too hardcore in your faith then I’d argue that you’re doing exactly what God calls you to do. You’re being different, you’re standing out. Those people who mock you, those other Christians who think you’re strange, are only further proving that you’re doing the right thing. The apostles and early disciples were treated like dogs for doing this very thing, yet they felt rewarded:
This is an amazing example for us. Regardless of what anyone says (believer or non), you should never dull down your faith to please someone. The fact is, God wants us to be different and He wants us to be considered weird by the world’s standards.
