What does it really mean to be “in Christ” Posted: 06 Mar 2008 07:06 AM PST The majority of Christians erroneously assume that they are "in Christ", but the reality is very different. To be "in Christ" is is not guaranteed by prayer or scripture reading. In John 5:39 we are told, "You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life." The truth is disclosed by the words "unwilling to come to me". Most believers automatically assume that they are with Christ but they do not consider that in order to be with Christ, or in him, they first have to "be where he is". Where is Christ? Well, he is a spirit dwelling in heaven surely. In order to truly be "in him", we have to find out what work we have to do in order to get our spirits into the place where he lives. Salvation is a free gift which awaits our overcoming in order to receive it. For the holy apostles, being "in Christ" meant that they also were able to see Christ, as he is, namely in spirit and in truth. This is evident by many visions they had of the Lord and of the heavenly realms. In the same way that the ascended spirit of Christ had communion directly with God and the angelic powers, we now must learn how to "rise" and be truly in him, as he is in the father. The truth of it is, we are not "in Christ", until we can first accept that we are actually "out of Christ". Remembering that it is the sins in the body which keep him separate from us. Which of you are prepared to accept this and ask yourselves just how much you know about the inner workings of your spirit man? Remember that true biblical salvation is something which comes as a result of patient endurance through suffering. In order to attain the inner purification resulting in a sanctified spirit, one must first put up with a struggle, which is an excruciating one, that I can tell you. Most Christians are simply not prepared to fully submit to the work of the holy spirit. They will do it in part, but as soon as suffering comes, they fall away. In the parable of the sower, Jesus explains that humanity is divided into 4 camps. The first group on the path hear the word, but because of a lack of understanding the evil one snatches it away. The second group on rocky ground are not "rooted" and so when the suffering of testing begins, they cannot bear it and so cannot carry their cross. The third group are led astray by the worries and cares of the world and so don't bear fruit. The fourth group are those that understand exactly what the word means and endure to reap a crop. These are the ones who will enter the kingdom, receive power and who are able to then go into the world and sanctify others. This multiplication effect results in a harvest of souls, by the true worker. We are told in scripture that the ones who gather Christ's wheat into the barn, are angels. Indeed the work of salvation is initiated by angels, but then later by the men who have been made holy by the sanctifying work of their angels. Of those that are called, not all all glorified because not all are fully justified. Remembering that only "those who do my will to the end will be saved". As it says, many are called, but few are chosen. We are currently in a dire situation because none of us really understands just how we get our spirits back to that place from which they "fell". Christians are unsaved and therefore cannot inherit eternal life until they understand the true way, which is by deliverance. This is made clear only when a person commits to an understanding of the things which are going on in the spiritual realm. There currently exists a state of apathy and indifference towards that very thing which is supposed to be in heaven, namely the human spirit, which we are told are a deposit guaranteeing that which is supposed to follow (heaven) If we ask God to guide us to the truth of what we need to do to in order to become truly saved, we will be guided to the right material. Fighting the good fight involves coming against the "forces" which are actively working to prevent your salvation in the spiritual realm. This is the final frontier of our faith, |
