Hi ThomH, Someone in my family got his life destroyed because of it. I am aware of the devastation that chid abuse of any kind can bring. Verbal, physical and sexual abuse should not be allowed to happen in our society. Sexual abuse is so rampant within the household where children are living with or interacting with relatives, aunts and uncles. There should be an awareness among children that an inappropriate touch should be reported and it is a criminal act. On a personal note, healing can come from God. The fears and the nightmares get better when you actually confront the issue openly by disclosing it to others. I read upon it. Let me post something that I read on about.com: "In 2007, nearly one-half of all victims of child abuse and neglect were White (46.1%), one-fifth (21.7%) were African-American, and one-fifth (20.8%) were Hispanic. Although children of all ages experience abuse and neglect, it is the youngest children that are the most vulnerable, with almost 32% of the victims of child abuse and neglect being under the age of four years." Scary , isn't it? I will be reading your book. Thanks Molly --- On Thu, 9/2/10, ThomH <th2950@yahoo.com> wrote:
