Did you know that the life of Jesus is our perfect example?
Everything that Jesus is we should be too. It says that when he comes we will be like him. Jesus went through everything that we go through so he understands and feels what it is like. Because he went through it he can make intercession for us. Let's take a look at the end of his life and see how it mirrors our lives.
Jesus was persecuted because he didn't go with the flow. We too are persecuted when we don't go along with orthodoxy or follow the crowd. They even called Jesus the devil. How much more will the call us the devil. He was falsely accused just as we will be when we stand for the truth.
He was smitten and spit on by many of the same people who were singing his praises a few days before when he came into Jerusalem on a donkey. We too will be forsaken by the ones who we thought loved us. Jesus' own family didn't even believe him. His own friend turned him into the authorities. This is what will happen to us too if we are following Jesus.
"Those who live Godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution." Finally Jesus was killed even though he was totally pure and innocent. Jesus took the penalty for sin when he died on the cross. By this act we too have become white as snow. We too will suffer because of the sin in the world even though we are righteous in Christ. We will be like Christ in every way.
Jesus laid in the grave dead for three days before God raised him from the dead. This is exactly what will happen to us too. Because we are in Christ we will be risen from the dead. After Jesus rose from the dead his look changed and he received immortality.
Jesus wasn't recognized after his resurrection until he revealed himself to them. We too will be changed and clothed with immortality when Jesus returns and we are resurrected. You will notice that Jesus was never saved away from the tribulations that came to him.
He was only saved after his death just as we will only will be saved after the resurrection. The teaching of a secret rapture that is separate from the resurrection I believe is a false teaching. What happened to Jesus will happen to the church.
Jesus is our perfect example. That is why we follow him. To follow means to walk as he walked, think as he thinks and to live and die just as he did. Follow Jesus to the cross and follow him to life.
