Healing parts 1-3
I was asked to share this and these seem to have vanished. So I went and found them. Healing by Don Chamberlain I have been thinking about healing lately. As many of you know I have ...had some bad health problems over the past 4 years. I know what the scriptures say about the subject. I also know that our believing plays a large roll in our healing. Some have asked me why I don't just believe to be healed. To ask someone that question is a trick of the adversary to get the sick person to condemn themselves for having their believing falling short of what it should be. No person who is ill wants to be that way, to add condemnation on top of the illness will never make them better. Have you ever read: Eph. 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. To edify means to build up,the word corrupt means to tear down. Corrupt communication means way more than just to swear or to use God's name in vain. If you start calling someone names that is corrupt communication. If you gossip that is corrupt communication. To edify would mean to encourage someone to a more worthy endeavor. If I see that you need to be encouraged and I point you in the correct direction that is to edify. It is not flattery it is telling someone the truth in an attempt to get them to a better place in their life. It is loving them in spite of their shortcomings. To understand about healing look at 1 Peter. 1Pe 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. Every lash they put on the lord brought about our healing. 1Cor 11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake [it], and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. We remember what happened to Christ in the communion. How his body was broken for our healing. Many miracales happen during communion. Communion is not a sacrament. You can not show me anyplace in the word of God where it is called a sacrament. The most you could come up with is it is to be a remembrance of what Christ did for us. It also has a potentiality for great healing. It is a way of recognizing that Christ body was broken for our healing. Look at these 2 verses from Psalms. Psa 30:2 O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. Psa 107:20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered [them] from their destruction. There is no way that God causes sickness and it is never a test to see if we will continue in his word. We have a God of great healing, it is the thief who comes to steal to kill and to destroy our lives. In case you don't understand, the thief is the devil. It is his mission to do every negative thing possible to us. Four years ago I almost died ,that was not God in any way shape or form. Look at what Hebrews says. Hbr 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; I believe that God pulled me through that illness much the way he helped Hezekiah when he was dying. There are many who die from what I had happen to me. I ended up with blood clots in my lung and heart. The doctor told my wife he had never seen a clot that big. It was bad enough that a part of my lung had to be removed. God's mercy was great and I am here to bear witness of what God did for me. You know there is some misunderstanding about biblical healing. There are different types. Removing a cause, Miricalous healing, and just regular healing. Removing a cause. If something is causing your ill health it can be removed that would mean anything from a bad gall bladder to being possessed by an evil spirit. You remove the cause and the symptoms will go away. If it is a physical cause then you remove it, if there is a spiritual cause then you ask God what to do about it. It isn't matter of you're deciding it is a matter of what is available, in each situation because it may do no good to try to remove the cause unless God tells you to do it. There is healing like natural healing. If you cut yourself a scab forms from the blood and it covers the cut and after a few days the scab will fall off and the cut is healed. The human body was designed by God to heal itself. That is also the case with the spiritual body God designed the body of Christ us to heal it's self. 1Cor 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.. Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; Eph 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: We are the body and are designed to help heal the body of Christ. Those in the body who know about the manifestations of the spirit know that it is available to heal someone. Miraculous Healing Then there is miraculous healing. Like the women who wanted to touch the hem of Jesus garment. She believed that if she could just touch it she would be healed and she managed to touch it and it says Jesus felt the virtue (Power) go out of him and she was healed. Mat 9:20 The man born blind and he received his sight. Jhn 9:2 ff The man at the temple gate called beautiful Acts 3 and 4. These people also received wholeness. In the case of the 10 lepers we have something different. The ten lepers came to Jesus asking for healing. As they made their way to the temple and on the way they saw that they were healed. One turned around and went and praised Jesus the other continued on their way. Jesus told the one he was made whole. The others were healed, but the one was made whole. So if you read about a healing that does not always mean that the person was made whole. (Luke 17) A few days ago I experienced a small part of what the aforementioned people felt. I took a stupid bus ride and felt like I was soaring like an eagle. I am sitting here with tears in my eyes because I am so blessed. This would fall into the natural healing category. I want you to know that I am not stopping now with just being able to take a stupid bus ride. I want to get the miraculous healing.going. I will walk in and get a chest x-ray done and they will find 2 whole complete lungs. They cut out part of one my lungs. They will do a sonogram and find my blood is again flowing properly in my lower legs. All evidence of the heart surgery will be gone. I will not only be healed but I will be whole again. And what if for some reason it doesn't happen? It doesn't change the truth of the word of God. I am healed by the stripes of Jesus Christ . I will always proclaim my healing even if my body doesn't show it. Pray for each other and for healing for all that stand for God! That being you are not finished tillGod says you're finished. the LORD. 9 For [as] the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. I thought I was finished with my healing teaching. As I considered what I should teach about a scripture Prov 3: 5,6 and suddenly it started to tie into a healing teaching infact the one I am about to share. When you are being healed the first thing you have to understand is you have to believe you will be healed. Believe and trusts are the same thing. Let's see what the word saysabout trust. understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Trust is an interesting concept. I am going to make an assumption here; I am willing to bet most of you are seated. What's more I'll bet when you decided to get on the net or read this where ever you are and you decided to sit in your chair that you didn't start by putting weights on the chair to make sure that it would hold you. Most of you like me just sat down without a thought of the chair possibly collapsing. I'll bet several times a day you do that with nary a thought about it. That is because you trust the chair. Why is it we trust a chair but have such a hard time trusting the Lord God almighty? He promises to direct your paths if you will just trust him. Yes we have to trust with all of our heart. The heart is a figure of speech it stands for the seat of the personal life. What makes you you. The place where we make decisions of our lives. We have to trust God just like you trusted that chair you are now sitting in. What's more we are not to lean onto our own understanding. Our understanding is limited to what we can see, hear, touch, taste, or feel. This is one thing science will never understand that you can go beyond your five senses. There is a spiritual realm that cannot be seen with physical eyes. There is spiritual life. It can't be measured in the same way we measure physicallife. We can learn about the spiritual by the study of God's word alone. Men's opinions are of no help. There are no journals, instruction books, and directions outside of what God hasshown us in his word. When we rely on God and what he has promised in his word we step in too a different realmthan most people will ever know. Look at Ephesians. withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. In verse 13 the last 2 words, to stand, the word stand is there; the word to is not, so it should read, having done all stand. What does that mean you have to read all of Ephesians to get the full impact simply you have to know what it says and then claim its promises. We find those promises, like healing, there are many places that talk abouthealing. There is a woman in the Old Testament I'd like to look at. In 2 kings 4 there is a record of a woman who saw the man of God passing her house and in the east hospitality is very important to them, so she invited the man of God in for some food and let him rest there. After this happened a couple of times she talked it over with her husband and decided to set up a room because she had figured out that this was a prophet and he could stay there whenever he wished to. Well the man of God asked his servant to find out what the women wanted or needed. The women told the man of God's servant she didn't want any kind of recognition, then the servant told the prophet that she had no child and her husband was old. So the man of God promised her a son and she had one. Then one day he died. The women went to find the man of God and he saw her coming and he sent a servant to find out what was going on. He asked about her, herhusband, and her son and she said all is well. well. The women said all is well. The women knew that her son, the one thing she wanted, would not be taken from her. I have 3 daughters I could not imagine what this women was going through. She never confessed the negative. She kept her mind stayed the fact that all waswell. Look at the next verse. [is] vexed within her: and the LORD hath hid [it] from me, and hath not told me. God had not shown the man of God what was happening. The man of God did know she was vexed, which means to be bitter. Why didn't God show the Prophet what was going on? Idon't know because God never says why. 28 Then she said, Did I desire a son of my lord? did I not say, Do not deceive me? 29 Then he said to Gehazi, Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thine hand, and go thy way: if thou meet any man, salute him not; and if any salute thee, answer him not again:and lay my staff upon the face of the child. So the man of God gives instructions to his servant about what to do. If you need healing this may happen, that you will get instructions, it is important to follow those instructions even if they make no sense to you. I will show this to you when we finishhere in 2 Kings 4. will not leave thee. And he arose, and followed her. him, saying, The child is not awaked. So the child is still not moving does that mean that he will never move? No of course notit just means more may need to be done. You don't pray once and give up decide it what you were praying for, was never going to happen. his bed. So the child is still dead. Again you have to see it all the way through no matter what it may look like to you. Once you have the promise of God and the revelation to do something you need to follow through ,just like a batter doesn't just tap the baseball,he completes his swing because the power is in the follow through. 33 He went in therefore, and shut the door upon them twain, and prayed unto the LORD. So he prays. Ever notice prayer is never the wrong option. You can pray and need to pray if you are looking for healing. God wants faithfulness. You keep praying in the previous teaching when I mentioned those who had miraculous healing, I also pointed out it took some time for it to come to pass. I bet you a dollar those people all prayed for healingon a regular basis. the flesh of the child waxed warm. 35 Then he returned, and walked in the house to and fro; and went up, and stretchedhimself upon him: and the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes. 36 And he called Gehazi, and said, Call this Shunammite. So he called her. And when shewas come in unto him, he said, Take up thy son. 37 Then she went in, and fell at his feet, and bowed herself to the ground, and took upher son, and went out. It may have seemed like a silly idea to stretch yourself out on top of a dead child but that is what the man of God was told to do, then walk around the house plllleeease give me a brake that is just to far out there, but IT WORKED. The Child lived again. One point before we move on. Ever wonder why we say God Bless You when someone sneezes. Well most think it is because your heart skips a beat when you sneeze, I see it as evidence you arealive like the child did in 2 Kings. Okay I was talking about following instructions when you go for healing lets look at thatsome more. 2 Kings 5 mighty man in valour, but he was a leper. To be a leper in the bible was not a good thing at all you were shunned by all. of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman's wife. Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy. So there is a prophet who can minister healing near by in Samaria. land of Israel. of gold, and ten changes of raiment. This is a custom in the bible that if one king requested something from another king he would always include a gift. This also means that Naaman was regarded highly by the kingof Syria. recover him of his leprosy. 7 And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh aquarrel against me. Okay this is somewhat humorous. First to rent your clothes meant you would rip them open it was a way of showing hopelessness or sorrow. Job did this after his children all died and he lost everything to show his sorrow to God. So the King of Israel gets this letter from the king Syria and he thinks that the Syrian king is looking to pick a fight with him. The king of Israel at least knows he isn't God and can't help Naaman but the kingwould only deal with the king. him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel. Okay so God arranged for his man to find out what had happened and he told the king send him to me I'll take care of it and all of Syria will know there is a prophet of the living God in Israel. This is one way to tell the true from the counterfeit. If the King or the Prophet gets glorified then it is a counterfeit if God get's glorified it isgenuine. of Elisha. 10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, andthy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean. 11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand overthe place, and recover the leper. Now things did not go as Naaman thought they would. You will find that happens allot inhealing it never happens the way most people expect. may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage. Here is the key. when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean? If you are instructed to go wash in the Jordan then that is what you do. You don't think that you have a better idea or that what you are told seems to be a trifle you just do what is told you to do. This is a good key, whenever you deal with the man of God do as he says and by man of God I don't mean your local pastor but a man who has been shown tobe a man or women of God because their actions line up with the word of God. was clean. So Naaman does as he is told and he gets the result. One more thing for this teaching we need to look at. Psa 46:10a Be still, and know that I [am] God: Have you ever been in a doctor's office and there will always be someone who has their kids with them. The kids will be running around and making a racquet. Then the mom willyell at them and tell them to stop making all the noise. This is similar what this verseis talking about but it is also talking about what is inside of you. If there are storms in your soul it is hard to get healed. This is why prayer is so vital. It brings peace. You need to be praying. You need to be able to clear the storms of your life and be at peace with God and you can connect. So you need to Trust in the lord and acknowledge him in all of your life and He will direct you in the direction to go. You need to listen to what God tells you and do what He says. It may also help to go over the scriptures that apply to what you need in your life. Those promises are from God to us, we need to use them. Copyright © 2010 All rights resevered HEALING Part 3 by Don Chamberlain Okay you know healing is available. What are the reasons you might still not receive healing? I talked about believing and trusting God. You must believe that God can and will heal you. Remember unlike men what God can do he will do. Men may have the knowledge about how to do something they just lack the will to do it or they may have the will but just not know the how. Trust and believing is a big umbrella many things fall under them. Unworthiness. This is a big stumbling block for some people. They feel that they don't deserve healing. Why would they not deserve healing? There are 2 basic reasons why people think they are unworthy. Lack of knowledge of the truth or incorrect teaching. One more thing that fits under people feeling unworthy is what normally causes that feeling and that is condemnation. In Romans 8:1 it says that there is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. Who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit. To walk after the spirit means to do that which the word says to do and to avoid that which the word says we should not do. Well we sometimes fall short of what the word says we should do. People will say "you don't know what I did." It doesn't matter what you did! God is bigger than what you did and anything you ever will do. How hard is it to get salvation? God made it so simple for us to get saved because he knows we are dust just floating around. How hard does God make it for us to get forgiveness? 1 John 1:9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Wow he has us jumping through hoops here. All we have to do is ask for forgiveness and God is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us. There is nothing , did you hear that NOTHING you can do that God will be unable to cleanse. Romans 8:37Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Nothing can separate us from the love of God. Nothing you do can be so bad that it will undo the grace he has given us. God is love a commonly used phrase but still the 100% truth. 1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and with his stripes we are Isa 53:5 But he [was] wounded for our transgressions, [he was] bruised for our Lack of knowledge Well if you have never studied the word you may not know God has made healing available. You if you are reading this will have lost that reason. You know what cures lacking knowledge is to be taught or finding out through study that something is available. The other reason for not believing that we have been healed is incorrect teaching. Jesus Christ's body was broken for our healing if you say you are unworthy then the beatings and physical assaults on Jesus Christ become of no effect. He went through the torture he endured for nothing. dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go. Remember Jesus Christ exposed the devil. You don't read in the Old Testament that it was the Devil that caused the prophets to be killed in Israel but we all know that to be the truth. God didn't want his people to die ,in fact Hebrews says that the author of death is the devil and yet how many times you read that God caused someone's death. In Job it has it exactly right that God allowed the devil to do this stuff to Job but what caused all these terrible things to happen? For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me. We were redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ and by his stripes we have been healed. They will look for negative attention if they don't get positive. If they don't know the word which is where we get positive attention then they will look for negative attention from other sources. Now the root problem is the same it's either wrong teaching or no teaching at all. scattered abroad, greeting. 2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wantingnothing. 5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, andupbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of thesea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. the last time. 6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heavinessthrough manifold temptations: 7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at theappearing of Jesus Christ: 8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. 10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: It does say God is the way you get relief from the trail but it never even hints that God is the one causing the trail. The other places where it talks about trial or trying it is the idiom of permission. So these Christians that want to get beaten up have either never studied the subject or have been taught that this is how God gives us attention. That is a lie straight out of hell. God does NOT lay sickness, or death, or poverty, or anything that does not bless upon us. In III John 2 God says: Beloved, I wish above ALL things that thou mayest prosper & be in HEALTH, even as thy soul prospereth (as you breath). My friends Go to the word, learn the promises hide them in your heart and get the healing God has promised you for by Jesus Christ's stripes you are healed!!!
