HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

It is D-Day. The sun is shining here in Minnesota on Saturday and temps around 70, but just a week ago there was SNOW in the air. Dumb I know, but that is why is it is called MinneSNOWta.. BUT I DIGRESS.. and oh ya..

Happy Mothers Day!

Today, I want to celebrate the 3 MOMS in my life.

1. MY MOM is one of the sweetest women I know, and makes me smile. Not everyone can say that honestly about their mom, but I can.

2. MY WIFE MARY is the the mother of our 3 kids and though they are now grown up (youngest is 20), she is still mom and loves them like only a mother can.

3. LAURA LARSON is the mother of our first grandson born onto Planet Larson on August 31st 2010. Mary and I are very excited to be grandparents and are blessed to have a daughter in law like Laura who is the perfect loving mommy to my grandson Everett John Larson.

Now I am sure most of you are thinking that is great, BUT YOUR MOMS ARE THE BEST. Well I respect your right to be WRONG, and I will NOT DEBATE THE FACT that the 3 moms in my life can beat up the moms in your life.. <pause> .. or something like that.

Ok, and obvious truth to be told is.. MOTHERS DAY IS NOT A CONTEST... but a celebration of a Mother's Heart that can not be matched in this world. I often think about how Mary looks at our kids and though my love for my kids is not in question.. Mary's Love for these same kids makes me marvel. There is something about a mother's heart that is priceless and part of the perfect makeup that God blessed moms with.

So with this in mind.. and while I leave those macho men reading this email wiping a tear from your eye, a lump in your throat, and wishing you had your teddy bear near you to hug.. let me leave you with my cartoon tribute to my MOM and all MOMS. .. For all you do.. these toons are for you!

EXPECTING MOMS
- Way back when moms first feel the wonder of life inside.. it was a BEAUTIFUL THING. Even for the mother of a NATION.
- There are those memories of my wife and other moms to be who spent any time on BEDREST.

BUSY BUSY MOMS
- Moms can navigate across the kitchen with nary an incident
- Moms are the ultimate kitchen multitasker
- Moms are expert negotiator even when faced with VEGGIES!
- Moms trains hard to run the good race, to fight the good fight.. and keep one step ahead of the little ones
- Moms can wield a MOP like a samurai does his sword
- Moms are NEVER ALONE almost to the point of being somewhat 'omnipresent'!
- A Mom is never JUSTA mom
- Moms PRAY , EXHORT , watch out for us , and when needed they can really LET YOU HAVE IT

REWARDS for MOM are not tangible.
- Mornings start early
- Dandelions are the bouquet of choice.
- Mothers Day requires A PLAN.
- Breakfast in Bed is a beautiful sight.
- Teaching important scriptures is a priceless investment in your kids.
and HELLO GUYS.. Mom would not mind a LITTLE HELP once in a while.

My prayer today is for my mom and for all the moms out there. I pray for God's blessings and rewards and satisfaction (that balances out the exasperrations) in being a mom. Thank you God for the priceless investment in our lives a good mom makes. May we all be good sons and daughters as you intend and in a way that is truly family and makes you smile. May our families be filled with love and grace for each other, and may there be healing for wounded hearts... and Lord please help us men to REMEMBER our wives lest we face the dangers of THIN ICE.
