Very well said Molly. I'm glad to see you are getting into the word of God. When Jesus returns to set up the kingdom the inhabitants of the earth will see the "Wrath of God and of the lamb first hand." As king Jesus will be saying about those who don't want to serve him, "Bring them before me and slay them."
Like Moses, Jesus was the meekest man on the earth but after the resurrection we will see another side of Jesus. He gave us a glimpse of that when he overturned the moneychangers tables in the temple. We do want to be on the right side of God. We want to be pleasing to God just as Jesus was.

No, the statement" the Lord's first Born is Vengeance " is not true. But I have seen many mis quotes of this in some writings.
Jesus never spoke of himself as Vengeance.He was the sacrificial Lamb, in other words , Jesus' death comes as a means for us to grant forgiveness,from God, the Father, not revenge.
JESUS, God the Son, came to establish Peace and Love along with forgiveness,
Old Testament depicts the God of Vengeance
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.Romans 12:19
For we know Him who said, "Vengeance is Mine; I will repay," says the Lord. And again, "The Lord will judge His people."
Isiah 63 is a revelation of His nature, as told in the OT
3 "I have trodden the winepress alone;
from the nations no one was with me.
I trampled them in my anger
and trod them down in my wrath;
their blood spattered my garments,
and I stained all my clothing.
4 It was for me the day of vengeance;
the year for me to redeem had come.
5 I looked, but there was no one to help,
I was appalled that no one gave support;
so my own arm achieved salvation for me,
and my own wrath sustained me.
6 I trampled the nations in my anger;
in my wrath I made them drunk
and poured their blood on the ground.
finally, it all boils down to what is said in NT
Colossians 1
15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. 21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of[g] your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation—'.
But, in Life we see, all our acts of sins and transgressions come with repercussions. God teaches us through his means of corrections.
