you commented: We double sinned, we went beyond what was written and we produced a New written code for ritual worship law and rejected God's Holy Spirit! We have both grace and LIFE through the Spirit!
I am still amazed at those that "claim" to both know and teach the scriptures and the embarrassing FACT they STILL DON"T SEE IT!
And one reason they don't see it is because of the convincing arguments made by proof texting the Scriptures. Barna writes, "God's people have approached the New Testament with scissors and glue, cutting and pasting isolated, disjointed sentences from different letters, lifting them out of their real-life setting, lashing them together to build floatable doctrines, and then calling it "the word of God".
He also writes, " The Protestant scholastics held that not only is the Scripture the Word of God, but every part of it is the Word of God in and of itself, irrespective of context. This set the stage for the idea that if we lift a verse out of the Bible, it is true in its own right and can be used to prove a doctrine or practice".
This approach of "back to the Bible" fueled the S/C restoration thinking and resulted in what we have and are still experiencing today in the many splintered groups and feuding factions.
