[Church_of_Christ] Re: Are we misunderstanding the scriptures?

Greetings Maddie, ED here

John was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day, Rev 1:10. A couple of months
ago I provided sufficient reason for concluding Sunday was that day
called the Lord's Day. Even Clay acknowledged so. Historically,
Christian scholars have had no difficulty or question with this
connection. Until recently the only question raised has been by
"Seventh-Day" groups and they are relatively a small number. So why in
the face of both the evidence and nearly universal acceptance are people
like Clay and Cecil Hook Jr trying to move it from universally accepted
to unproven and questionable? Well, I don't propose to know another's
motives, but I will say this much: if I had an agenda of trying to
undermine anything and everything Christians have long trusted and
believed, this would be one of the things I would do.

There are some working from within who are determined to weaken the
faith of others. They do so by challenging accepted "traditional"
positions. They imply there is no scriptural reason for their
acceptance. They offer no proof, only challenges. When proof is given,
it is ignored, and they merely move on to another alleged "tradition"
and challenge it. When proof is given for this one, they ignore it and
move on again. Endless cycles! I know, I have been giving proof and . .
.

As far as IM is concerned. We are completely in the realm of God's
approval when we sing praise. We can give book, chapter and verse. That
provides authority to sing praise when we assemble and worship. There is
no authority to use IM accompaniment. There is nothing forbidding it,
but that is not the point. That is always the reply, but it misses what
we are trying to accomplish: to remain within what we know is pleasing
to God and to refuse to go beyond what is written. IM is never mentioned
as part of NT worship. To use it is to go beyond what is written.

most likely means NO instruments. Because God also commands to not put
anything in the Bible that is not already written, and do not take out
anything in the Bible that is necessary to be obeyed. Since there is no
proof we cannot use instruments, we cannot put that in the Bible that we
are able to.
