[Church_of_Christ] Re: Are we misunderstanding the scriptures?
Greetings Clay: ED here
Clay: 1) We NEVER see in the NT church an "uninspired" Pulpit Preacher bore the group to death with a 30 minute lecture.
ED: 2 Tim 4:4
Clay: 2) We NEVER see a follower going up front during an invitation song and at it's conclusion "confess their faults" in secret to the Pulpit Preacher.
ED: Jm 5:16 (details as to how this is done are not spelled out, left to our discretion)
Clay: 3) We never see followers eating the bread and drinking the cup outside a meal together.
ED: Having made a mess of combining a meal with the LS, Paul told them to eat their meals at home, 1 Cor 11:34
Clay: 4) We never see a song leader leading ALL MEMBERS in a song together in four part harmony at the same time with females present.
ED: Heb 2:12 (they sang. how is not spelled out, they may have done what you say they didn't, left to our discretion)
Clay: 5) We never see disciples sitting in straight rows listening with out interaction one with the other and the boring "uninspired" lecturer. In Fact one fell out the window from where he was sitting.
ED: How do you know how they sat? You must use a different version than I do.
Clay: 6) We never see followers giving funds for the construction of a 1.2 million dollar structure in order to "worship God" together in a called assembly.
ED: They met in homes, in the Temple, wherever they could meet. The Temple probably cost a lot more than 1.2 million.
Clay: 7) We never see an unbeliever come forward in a group of believers and want to be immersed.
ED: Ac 8:36
Clay: There are others but it's best we dialogue instead of ONE taking over and LECTURING the rest for 30 minutes without the MEN ONLY being able to comment.
ED: I intend to answer this in another post. It will begin a new topic.
