Because he was leaving the next morning. How do we know that they were not meeting every day and Sunday just happened to be the "only" day that Paul could schedule joining them. If you were Paul and you were on a missionary journey today and you came to my town on a Tuesday and it was the "only" day that you could give my congregation your inspired word....would you do it on Tuesday or just keep on trucking cause it wasn't Sunday? What if???? the scriptures had stated that the Christians came together and listened to you on Tuesday....would that have been a binding "thus saith the Lord" for us to meet on Tuesday of "every" week just because you couldn't do it any other day? Is it not possible under any circumstances that the reason Paul met with them on Sunday was because he "had"

Agreed, Beth, but other historical sources tell us that very early in the history of the church the pattern for meeting on Sundays was common/universal.
Scripture does not tell us that, though.
