[Church_of_Christ] Doulos Meditation for April 22
Scripture: Luke 13:7-9
he said
"See here! For three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree
Cut it down!" He replied, "Sir, let it alone for one more year
If it bears fruit next year, well and good, but if not, you can cut it down."
Reflection: What themes do we emphasizelove, faith, giving, forgiveness, tithing? My nomination for the most neglected themeproductivity and effectiveness. A majority of Christians seem complacent and satisfied with doing their routines, expecting few results but not worrying at all about it as long as they are comfortable. Let's itemize: Jesus commissioned us to make disciplesquestion: In the last 12 months, how many disciples have you made? He said pray for your enemiesquestion: In the last month, how many enemies have you prayed for? Jesus said forgive others that we may be forgivenquestion: How many people have you deliberately and consciously decided to forgive? Jesus said liars will be separated into the fires of hell in judgmentquestion: Have you lied this week? He said looking at a woman and lusting is tantamount to committing adulteryquestion: Have you lusted this week? Bottom line question: if you were a fig tree would Jesus find any fruit on your branches?
Prayer Starter: Our God, we perceive that you are a moral and ethical God and you demand that we accept your redemption and practice your ways. Why, then, are we so indifferent about obeying you while claiming to trust in you? Discipline us now. Amen. www.doulosinternati
