[Church_of_Christ] Re: Creeds
Greetings Ed,
you said: Creeds have always been used to delineate, to separate, to expose. Suppose our brother is a Bible reader and he has not yet come to understand the Trinity. The creed is used to force him to accept that doctrine whether he is ready or not and if he doesn't, he is excluded.
Ed, I'm going out on a limb here and speculating that you've never really been associated with a congregational creed before. Because what you are describing here about creeds is completely foreign to by understanding and experiences. So are you saying that a creed will force an understanding or misunderstanding of the Trinity??? ![]()
I have a creed, the Bible. For those who thought I was against all creeds, I am sorry to disappoint you. If your creed has other than the Bible, it other than what you need. If it has less than the Bible, it has less than you need. If it has more than the Bible, it has too much.
The very same could be said of gospel hymns, Sunday school literature, tracts, etc. So why all the ranting and raving about creeds? You seem to think it is some evil trying to get into the church.
Kindly, Cole
