I don't believe your salvation will hinge on how you deal with the church on this issue, but as far as your responsibility, absolutely. We are commanded in scripture to test all doctrines, all spirits, and know what is true and what is false. This is a primary responsibility of every believer. As far as dividing the church over false doctrine, that is one of most strenous commands of Paul and Jesus. Division is created when people take a stand for truth.

You do realize this question is only valid from an agnostic/deist world view, right?
I know the mind of God because it is revealed in scripture and to my own heart by the Holy Spirit dwelling in me. I know what God considers true doctrine by those two sources. I know what GOd considers false dcotrine because it conflicts with the true.
