[Church_of_Christ] Re: Holy Spirit ministry
Ray; ED replying
Ray: The fact remains that in order to prove your case, you would have to show that revelation produces knowledge or facts, not understanding. Your case is still based on the idea that revelation produces information.
ED: Declarations and assertions without proof are simply empty statements. Consider a consultation with Vine's Expository Dictionary of NT Words (it is English based, so a familiarity with Greek is unnecessary)
"Revelation" - an uncovering; used in the NT of a) a drawing away of the veil of darkness covering the Gentiles; b) 'the mystery' the purpose of God in this age, c) the communication of the knowledge of God to the soul, d) the instruction of the apostle Paul . . .
Revelation reveals information: Lk 2:32 (who the Messiah is); Rom 16:25 the preaching of the gospel; Ep 3:3 the information God made Paul aware of; EP 1:17 the knowledge of God; 1 Cor 14:6 information that edifies; 1 Cor 14:26 words that inform; Gal 1:12 information (gospel) given to Paul, Gal 2:2 information that led to Paul's going to Jerusalem.
