Yep, that pretty much sums it up. Although the COC is not alone in doing this kind of thing, among most denominations and especially in nondenominational churches, this is simply non-issue.

Some denominations may believe they are more right than others (I think this is much more rare than we normally give it credit), but very few think their system has to be followed perfectly.

One of the most intriguing developments in the COC in contrast to denomiations is the OT/NT issue. In the COC, the OT is practially irrelevant. It is not used for doctrine or practice, and many will even say GOd practically erased the OT altogether. However, the RM hermenutics treats the NT as if it were simply another OT: laws and rules that require perfect obedience in order to be right with God.

In contrast, denominations put a great deal more emphasis on the importance of the OT. It is extremely useful for doctrine, practice, understanding and recognized as equal in authority to the NT. However, the denominations have NOT done the 'new law' thing with the NT. The denominations are more familiar with sola fide and the nature of grace than the COC.

I find it fascinating how the different groups handle the OT, and how they respectively handle grace.

anyway, that was more than I intended to say, but happy reading.

Any responses or questions are welcomed.

Ray
