If we are just going to church looking for that feel good feeling we are just depriving ourselves and depriving the lord his due respect. Are we going to strive to seek him in our own way or by the way he tells us to.
If we leave here and are not convicted or feel there are areas of our lives we need to change we are missing what the gospel is all about.
Jesus paid an immeasurable price for our sins. God sent him to the cross to pay for our sins and to give us the honor of being able to have a relationship with him.
Jesus was both god and man. He felt all the pain like we would. There was no supernatural release from that pain. How many of us could do that. How many of us could go there foreknowing what we would face. The humility, the mocking, the severity of pain that was endured.
Would we run from it. Would our pride stop us from paying that price? Would we say it isn't fair to have to pay for someone else? Would we flee if we knew what was ahead.
Your right it isn't fair. He felt ever sin that you and I committed and even the ones we still haven't committed yet. But he still went to the cross for us. Knowing what was in store. To give us the opportunity to have a relationship with him.
But yet we run from him. Treat him like a toy. Pull him off the shelve when we need him. When we face troubles in our lives. Just to put him back when we are tired of him. When we feel he's interfering in our lives. How can we call our selves Christians? How can we say we love him?
Christ has nothing to prove to us but we have everything to prove to him. How can we look into the face of a perfect love and not really love him back in the way he deserves.
How can we walk through these doors and mock him. How can we worship him for an hour and all the time wondering what's for lunch, how long is this going to last how my week will be.
Shouldn't be an act that we perform. But it's a change of the heart, acknowledging the one how changed our heart. Looking at him with honor and deep reverence. We should be brought to tears and sorrow when we think of how we treat the all mighty father.
When we think of our sins or the sin we are about to commit we should fall and weep that our love for him is not that strong. It's not him its us. We fall short time and time again.
We look to him when things get tough and turn away when things are going our way. How can we use the term im blessed and not honor the one who blesses us.
Do we continue to take? Do we continue to take his grace and mercy just to continue to live the same old lifestyle time and time again? To live a life that doesn't honor him. Do we treat him as an ATM always making withdrawals and never making a deposit?
It's a good thing for us that his store house of grace and mercy is never depleted. That he is our loving father. That he is patient with us. We have no right to complain when he shows us his displeasure with our lives and choices we make. When he gets tired of us running on satans hamster wheel, going around and around. Then when he steps in and say enough and disciples us we get upset. We have no right to complain or say god must hate me.
No he loves us. He loves us that he will step in and stop us from making a mistake if we let him. But so many times we just keep on and keep on not wanting to know or wanting the good things he has for us. What a selfish society we have become. Always wanting more and more just to find out that it is never enough. What will it take to fill our appetites? What will it take for God to get through to us? May we learn before its to late what the father has for us and want from us and willingly accept it.. Let us look to the creator for our help and always give him his due respect.
