[FamilyofGod] Re: Being nothing is Better than being something
I hold to the faith that our heavenly Father seeks always to make things as simple as possible for his children to be able to grasp and understand. For I know that any good father does the same.
I try to always be open-minded with a view to what I think I understand. I realize that true knowledge will always stand on its own merits when subjected to continual scrutiny. But, that which only seems like true knowledge will eventually fail the test of continual scrutiny. For this reason it makes no sense to fail to continually scrutinize and challenge the validity of what we think is true.
Not very long ago I thought that there was a gate in Jerusalem known as `the Eye of the Needle' and that this was what Jesus had in mind at Matthew 19:24. After further scrutiny that idea fell to the ground as ashes. But from out of those ashes grew better understanding.
Matthew 19:23-26 "Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. {19:24} And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. {19:25} When his disciples heard [it,] they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? {19:26} But Jesus beheld [them,] and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible."
Jesus could not have had in mind such a gate in Jerusalem where a camel had to be unpacked to get it through, even if it truly did exist. How can I positively say that? Concerning getting a camel through the eye of a needle and a rich man into heaven, Jesus told his disciples, Matthew 19:26 "
With men this is impossible
"
It is almost comical how we so often miss seeing such simple things
