Re: Celebration of Life or Propaganda Tool? - Letters to the Webmaster Posted: 02 Sep 2009 04:33 PM PDT Several years ago, I met a gay Xtian author through one of his books, a hilarious semi-fictional account of growing up in the southern Assembly of God group. He was kicked out of his Christian college one month before graduation because they found out he was gay. We had several good discussions on the phone before he died and he expressed that his family was heartbroken that he was gay and happy about it. He knew he was dieing and had specific plans for his funeral, including the church, the preacher (his gay pastor) and the music. WRONG!!! His body had not cooled off when his family stepped in and negated everything he wanted. All his pastor and friends could do was sit by and watch the circus proceed. Some old-time Assembly of God preacher preached his funeral at an Assembly church he never attended. The lying preacher told long stories of him repenting of the sin of homosexuality on his death bed and refuting everything he said bad in his book. (Nothing bad in the book, it was hilarious.) So the family and preacher LIED to the world to prove they were right. That is one reason I am leaving the faith of "liars for the cause." In fact, Christian people, especially ministers, are the main thing pushing me OUT of the faith of Xtianity. Not sin, not guilt, not wanting my own way...but their lack of integrity which negates their message! Lying christians...Liars in the name of Christ. BTW, if you are interested in a refreshingly funny book, lots of great stories about fundy time in America, the book is entitled "STRANGE ANGEL, THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO BENNIE JOE and is available at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Strange-Angel-Gospel-Acco...
Re: Celebration of Life or Propaganda Tool? - Letters to the Webmaster Posted: 02 Sep 2009 03:04 PM PDT Dave, I'm so sorry you lost your friend. I have to agree with everyone saying that we are sick of listening to the pastor telling such lies at someone's funeral. They get away with it mostly because people are sad and tired, and just want it to be over and the person they are bullshitting about can't speak anymore. Clair

Re: Celebration of Life or Propaganda Tool? - Letters to the Webmaster Posted: 02 Sep 2009 12:10 PM PDT I absolutely agree with the previous posters. Christianity has had over 2000 years to spread it's lies, I'm so sick of the self-righteous fundies who use religion to control people we have grown adults groveling to church every Sunday simply because they are afraid of a mythical man made hell. If it were not for the threat and fear of hell you couldn't get a person to step one foot into a church and lick a preacher and a mythical figures' ass. It was all invented by a bunch of lunatics and only a lunatic will follow such bullshit.

Re: Celebration of Life or Propaganda Tool? - Letters to the Webmaster Posted: 02 Sep 2009 08:37 AM PDT I agree w zedge. Whats the drawback? Sounds like a pretty good plan to me. It will enrage the wackos (what doesn't?) but it will also embolden the non-believers in your community to stop being so passive. I think you have a moral obligation to your friend and your community. No pressure or anything... :)
