[FamilyofGod] Prayer for "Infidelity in the Inbox"
Jesus, Your Word says that You know how to deliver my husband, Richard, out of temptations. I pray right now that You will now and forevermore deliver Richard, whom I love so much, from any temptation that he may encounter and strengthen him to resist any temptation that comes his way. Deliver him from evils such as adultery, pornography, drugs, alcohol, gambling, and perversion. Remove temptation especially in the area of sexual impurity and lust.
Make Richard strong where he is weak. Help him to rise above anything that seeks to erect a stronghold in his life. Lord, You've said that "whoever has no rule over his own spirit is like a city broken down without walls" (Proverbs 25:28).
I pray that Richard will not be broken down by the power of evil, but raised up by the power of God. Help him to take charge over his own spirit and have self-control to resist anything and anyone who becomes a temptation
Lord, teach Richard how to maintaining online integrity and to immediately change his e-mail accounts discontinuing any "friendship" in a polite yet firm message, to let any and all women know that the relationship is over. Prevent them from communicating with him while online, blocking them from his e-mail and instant messaging accounts to ensure that at least this form of communication is cut off.
Grant Richard the wisdom and discernment he needs in bringing more accountability into his life to eradicate dysfunctional and destructive behavior by bringing his deeds out in the open (Ephesians 5:11) to a trusted and godly friend of the same sex in whom he can confide. Help him to find such a friend who will pray with him, counsel him, and to prayerfully seek God's wisdom about bringing the situation to my attention, especially if the relationship has escalated past the point of e-mail. Reveal to Richard and help him to remember and understand that it's only when issues are brought into God's light that healing can come.
Finally, Lord, I ask that You would turn my husband, Richard's, attention back home and make a concerted effort to turn his heart, mind, and body toward me, his wife, once more. Help him to reconnect with me emotionally and physically, at the same time, resisting the urge to relive the flattering and exciting conversations that he once engaged in with the other women. Help Richard to remember that it is a choice to deny himself the pleasure of recalling those electrifying or intimate e-mail exchanges and to deliberately put his focus back on me.
I prayer Your word for my husband, Richard, in these areas and I Trust You to do as Your Word promises. In Your name I pray. Amen.
I pray that my husband, Richard, realizes that You, Lord, know how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the Day of Judgment. That sin shall not be his master, because he is not under law, but under grace and he will hide Your word in his heart that he might not sin against You.
I pray that when tempted, Richard will not say, "God is tempting me." For You, God, cannot be tempted by evil, nor do You tempt anyone; but instead help Richard resist temptation and realize that each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
Don't let Richard be deceived, Lord, for every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from You, Father, who does not change like shifting shadows. Reveal to my husband that You have chosen to give him birth through the Word of Truth that he might be a kind of first-fruit of all You created.
I pray that Richard will not conceal his sins for he will not prosper if he does, but that he confesses and renounces them so that he may find mercy. So that when he confesses his sins, he will look to You for You are faithful and just and will forgive him his sins and purify him from all unrighteousness. For no temptation has seized him except what is common to man. And You, God are faithful that You will not let my husband be tempted beyond what he can bear. But when he has been tempted, You will also provide a way out so that he can stand up under it.
I pray that Richard will know that he does not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize with his weaknesses, but he has one who has been tempted in every way, just as he is—yet without sin. Let him therefore approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that he may receive mercy and find grace to help in his time of need.
I pray Richard knows that You, Jesus, are able to help him when he is being tempted and that he will be self-controlled and alert because his enemy, Satan, prowls around like a roaring lion looking to devour him. Lord, teach and help him to resist the devil, standing firm in the faith, and to remember that his brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
I pray that Richard will be strong in the You, Lord and in Your mighty power by putting on the full armor of God so that he can take his stand against the devil's schemes while taking up the shield of faith, with which he can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
I pray that Richard will submit himself to You and resist the devil so that he will flee from him realizing that he is a dear child of God and has overcome Satan, because the one who is in him is greater than the one who is in the world.
I pray that my husband, Richard, will count it pure joy whenever he faces various trials, knowing that the testing of his faith develops perseverance. I pray that blessed is my husband who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
I pray that my husband, Richard, knows that You, God, are able to keep him from falling and to present himself before Your glorious presence without fault and with great joy. That he may greatly rejoice, though now for a little while he may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials and realize that these have come so that his faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
