[FamilyofGod] Re: Displaying God's Glory!
Note: Just for fun, try this informative fill-in-the- blank "get to know me as a Christian" questionaire and show everyone in Family Of God via your answers just how the Lord is making Himself real through you to not only other Christians but especially the lost, dying world!
1. I had received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior on:
June 15, 1982 when I was thirteen years old.
June 15, 1982 when I was thirteen years old.
2. The thing (or things) that led me to make a decision to receive Christ was/were:
A. The brutal abuse I was enduring at the hands of my biological mom who had wanted me dead at birth because of the fact that her foolish lifestyle during her pregnancy had caused me to be born blind; and B. My relationships with my sighted siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. were very rocky because of the stuff my mom was poisoning their minds with concerning me AND also because they felt that blind people were helpless, childish drains on society's resources and, thus, need round-the-clock babysitting (They still relate to me today the same way as they've been since my birth 40 years ago).
3. I now fellowship at (name of church) and my pastor's name is:
Calvary Chapel/Honolulu on Komo Mai Drive, and my pastor's name is Bill Stonebraker who's been my pastor for 17 years.
4. My favorite Bible verses AND passages are these:
It would be the entire book of Revelation, Ezekiel 38, the whole books of Psalms and Proverbs, Romans chapter 8 and Hebrews Chapter 11--to name a few.
5. My favorite Gospel songs include --- and my favorite Christian soloists and/or groups include:
5. My favorite Gospel songs include --- and my favorite Christian soloists and/or groups include:
Songs would be classics like, "The Wonderful Cross," "Blessed Assurance," "Because He Lives" and "In The Garden." Christian soloists and groups would include--but not be limited to-- Hillsong United, Chris Tomlin, Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, Bob Fitz, Two Or More and Amy Grant.
6. If I could share with the group one example of a prayer someone had prayed which had deepend the intimacy between me and the Lord It would be (share a copy of the prayer and provide the first name of the person who had prayed it):
The person who had prayed this prayer was a sister named Linda from my church. She had prayed that even though I was going through daily (and often brutal) setbacks to living a somewhat "normal" life because of sighted people's stereotypical attitudes and beliefs towards me as a blind person and Christian, God would use these constant sources of physical, spiritual, emotional and social suffering to draw me closer to Him and depend on Him for perfet companionship 24/7!
7. If I could share with the group one moving testimony of how faithful the Lord was to me during a time of urgent need it would be:
How He had supplied my every need and kept me alive day and night, week after week and month after month for the past thirteen years I was unemployed following my dropout from secular college in 1996 and how, after much weeping, fasting, praying and consulting with my pastor and a small handful of very mature Christians, He recently showed me that He wanted me to remain unemployed while serving Him full-time and trusting Him for survival. Since He had not allowed me to die of starvation or become homeless and a possible victim of rape while living on the streets all this time, He would surely continue to do just that for me while I die to myself, pick up my Cross daily and follow Him!
in Jesus Christ my True Everything,
Jolene.
The LORD is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him.--Psalm 28:7 (NASB)
