Subject: [FamilyofGod] Urgent! 7 y/o Luke: admitted w/infection/
It's not Luke, he is fine. It's my nephew Craig, my sister Mary's oldest son. He is in the ICU with a brain injury that resulted from a fall. For those who do not know, my sister lost her 11yr old daughter (Sydney) 2 yrs ago. Her other son Joe has very limited movement in his arms and legs. He also suffered a severe brain injury. My sister is a wreck as you can imagine. So please keep her in your prayers.
Luke by the way will be going to Pittsburgh next week for an iron transfusion. Overall we are pleased how he is doing. He has not been sleeping real well, but at least he has not suffered with any infections for awhile.
I had added some more pictures that were taken at a motorcycle charity run that was held for Luke and a baby named Savannah. It was a great event with a great turnout.
As always your prayers are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Leo
Please please pray hard for Craig!!! The doctors told my sister-in-law that there is nothing else that they can do!! His Intercranal pressures are not coming down. They are ranging in the 30's and 40's. This is the amount of pressure on the brain in shorten terms. Normal is 0 to 19. High normal is 20. The doctors told her if this keeps up then he will soon become brain dead. It is in Gods hands. He can heal him and we need all the prayers we can get!! It would be Syndnie's birthday on the 3rd of October and this is sooo close to that day that Craig can not leave us too. Please pray that we know how to get Mar through all this in one piece. Leo has been trying to stay at the hospital with Mar while I have been trying to work and take care of the kids. Leo is there now and I am just waiting to hear any updates. Keep praying!!!
Dottie
Just a quick update on Luke. He is on an antibiotic treatment for an infection. They had canceled his iron transfusion for today and as of right now he will remain at home. We will keep you all posted if they decide to admit him. He did go to school yesterday and felt pretty good when he got home. But by 7pm he was asking to go to bed.
Craig's ICP levels were in the teens through the night. And they reduced the oxygen level some, so he is breathing some on his own. We still will not know how much damage to the brain there is yet. And we are still unclear as to what exactly happened. We heard rumors that he was kicked in the head, but we don't know for sure.
Please keep praying for Luke and Craig!
Thanks,
Leo
Luke and Dottie had been at the ER in Altoona from 1:30 am to 9 am, and is on his way to Children's.
Luke was running a fever yesterday around 4pm. We were planning to go to the cemetery to celebrate what would be Sydney's 13th birthday. But Dottie had to take Luke to the hospital so Alexis, Kyle and I went to the cemetery. After being at the ER from 5:45 to about 10:00pm Luke was discharged and still running a fever. Some time around midnight Luke was having the chills and complaining his head and his belly hurt. Dottie called the Doctor at Children's and they decided that he should be admitted. We were hoping that it would be already set up to be transported to Pittsburgh. But we are not surprised that it did not happen that way and they finally left around 9 am. We are hoping it is just the flu, but he does have an infection in his mediport and we are waiting for the blood cultures to come back. As soon as I know anything else I will post another update.
Craig by the way is still in the critical care unit and the doctors said that he took a massive blow to the head and has a severe brain injury. He also has a cracked vertebrae in his neck. He did however move his left arm and blinked his eyes and seemed to look at his girlfriend yesterday. We are still praying for a miracle. The doctors told us that Joe would never recover from his injury and you can actually sit and talk to him. He remembers a lot but his short term memory is bad. But he has a great sense of humor and seems confused at times. Right now he says we are all in the Cuban Mafia. He does not know about his brother yet as it would set him into a deep depression. He was very depressed the first week or so of September as it was the anniversary of Sydney's death. So please pray for my sister as she will have to deal with both of her boys having brain injuries.
I will post again later today or tonight.
Thanks,
Leo
