If that is so, then can we have the Holy Spirit without having Jesus? Can we accept Jesus & not have His Spirit?

It was said when speaking of the trinity, "the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit all being of one substance." What is this "substance". ? Is this "substance" God too? If so would that mean there are four in the trinity? The trinity doctrine says The Father is God, The Son is God and the Holy Spirit is God and they are all co-equal. Is there another one added to the mix called "substance"? How many Gods do we have?
