[FamilyofGod] I Have Called You Friends
I Have Called You Friends
![]()
Our Lord Jesus Christ says, "No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you." (John 15:15). Jesus Christ has called us friends; but are we going to Him as a friend? Are we talking to Him like a friend? Are we enjoying His fellowship with Him as a friend?
Bible says, Abraham was called the friend of God (And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
And the LORD said, "Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing, since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? (Genesis 18:17,18). The Lord called Abraham, blessed him and made him a blessing, because the Lord God loved Abraham as His friend and Abraham loved the Lord by obeying His commands.
Our Lord Jesus Christ has chosen you and me that we will have fellowship with Him as a friend. (You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. John 15:16). Our Lord not only called us to bear fruit, but also have fellowship with us and our Father may give us whatever we ask in Jesus name.
Beloved brethren, our Lord Jesus Christ knows all the things we are going through and everything in our mind (John 2:25, 1 Samuel 16:7). And He wants us to talk to Him and have fellowship with Him as a friend. We may have something that cannot be said to our parents, children, friends, and brethren and sometimes even to our spouse. But we have an eternal friend Jesus Christ with whom we can share all our things and in turn He will take away all our burdens, sickness and sins; and give His peace, joy and show His plans for us.
Dear brethren, what is that bothering you, is it a sickness? Is it a trial you are facing? Is it a sin that is troubling you? Is it the future of your children? Is it a problem in work place? Is it financial needs? Whatever may be, go to our Lord Jesus Christ and talk to Him like a friend. He cares for us more than we do for ourselves, our family, our parents, our children and all our wellbeing.
Jesus Christ says, "All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out." (John 6:37). And "I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own." (John 10:14). Our Shepherd Jesus Christ knows us; do we know Him as a Friend?
David and Jonathan had a wonderful friendship between them; even after thousands of years, still their friendship stands a marvelous one (1 Samuel 18:1-4). When David's life was in danger because of Saul and even though Saul was his father, Jonathan helped David, saved him and protected him (1 Samuel 20). Friendship has no limits, and we have a Friend Jesus Christ whose friendship is far greater than that was demonstrated by David and Jonathan.
Dear brethren, we have a friend Jesus Christ who knows our past, our present and our future. Jesus Christ says, "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends." (John 15:13) and He proved His love of a greatest Friend by laying down His life on the cross for you and me. Jesus Christ calls us friends not because of our good works or righteousness or who we are; but because of His love for us and He showed it on the cross. Now we can boldly go to the throne of grace and receive His mercy, love and have fellowship with Him.
Bible says, "Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." (Hebrews 4:14-16).
Abraham had fellowship with the Lord as friend by having faith in Him and obeying all His commands. And for us to have fellowship with Jesus Christ, our Lord says, "You are My friends if you do whatever I command you." (John 15:14). For us to have fellowship with Jesus Christ, our Lord expects us to love Him by obeying all that He commands.
Our Lord Jesus Christ says, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-31). Our Lord commands us to come to Him and lay down our burdens and receive the rest He gives.
Dear brethren whatever may be things that is bothering us, may it be sickness, financial need, sins, failures, family needs, etc. let us come to our Lord Jesus Christ who has chosen us as His friends, talk to Him in prayer, receive His grace, mercy and all that we need, have fellowship with Him by reading and meditating His words and love Him by obeying all that He commands us.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen. (2 Corinthians 13:14)
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! (Matthew 7:11)
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Ephesians 3:20,21)
Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday. (Psalms 37:5,6)

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left and I could say, "I used everything that you gave me."
