[FamilyofGod] But He Answered Nothing

But He Answered Nothing

Being silent or keeping quiet is one of the powerful weapons that confuses and gives victory over the enemy; and Bible says, "For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body". (James 3:2). Controlling our tongue and the words of our mouth is very important for our Christian life. We should always remember that we are anointed children of God and the words we speak will come to pass. Our Lord Jesus Christ cautioned us, "But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned". (Matthew 12:36,37).

We may come across many situations where we are correct or have rights to tell our cause or our mind would say we should defend ourselves, etc. But for us in every part of our life, our Lord Jesus Christ is our example. Bible says, "For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: "Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth"; who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; (1 Peter 2:21-23).

When Jesus Christ was brought before Pilate, He had all rights to defend Himself but He submitted Himself to the will of Father in heaven. No sin was found in Him and was standing as a blameless lamb, yet He didn't speak for His cause. In the gospels we read that Jesus Christ answered only a selected few questions; but when accused or charged, He did not answer. (Then Pilate asked Him, "Are You the King of the Jews?" And He answered and said to him, "It is as you say." And the chief priests accused Him of many things, but He answered nothing. Then Pilate asked Him again, saying, "Do You answer nothing? See how many things they testify against You!" But Jesus still answered nothing, so that Pilate marveled. Mark 15:2-5). The calmness of Jesus Christ made Pilate to marvel at Him.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, He is the King of kings, He has the power and authority, but yet when accused for what He has not done, He did not open His mouth, not argued nor defended His cause, but surrendered Himself to the will of Father in heaven and kept quiet. Even after knowing the cruel suffering, pain and death He is going to bear on the cross, Jesus Christ did not argue for His cause, just for you and me. Yes, dear brethren, Jesus Christ did not open His mouth to take the cross and deliver us from the penalty of sin thus demonstrated His love for us.

Every day in our life we face many situations may be not because of our faults or totally innocent of the cause. Yet, we may find ourselves blamed or accused or rejected or put down by others; but Bible says, "Wait on the LORD; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!" (Psalms 27:14). Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:6,7). Whatever may be the situation we are facing, let us humble ourselves, cast our cares upon our Lord Jesus and wait for Him to act.

One of the reasons for the chief priests to crucify Jesus Christ was jealousy or envy. (For he knew that the chief priests had handed Him over because of envy. Mark 15:10). Because of jealousy or failing to understand us people around us may accuse us; but let us humble ourselves, keep everything in prayer and wait upon the Lord.

Joseph was hatred by his own brothers, sold as a slave by them, served Potiphar faithfully in Egypt, but again falsely accused and put in prison (Genesis 39). But a day came; the Lord raised him above all and made him ruler over Egypt next to Pharaoh. Dear brethren, we may think if I don't speak I'll lose all my credentials or position, or my years will be wasted, or my youth will be wasted. Bible says, Joseph was thirty years when he was raised to rule over Egypt (Genesis 41:46). All his youth he spent bearing hatred of his brothers, in slavery, falsely accused and in prison. But Joseph lived a life faithful and blameless before the Lord God and the Lord was with him and in the right time lifted him for the glory of His name.

Moses thought his brothers will understand him, but they didn't and he spent forty years in the wilderness of Midian rearing sheep. He might have thought my life is over and will spend the rest of my life here as a shepherd. But a day came; the Lord lifted Moses above all people to deliver His children out of bondage in Egypt.

Dear brethren, you may be facing a situation where you may be falsely accused or people not understanding you; humble yourself, wait upon the Lord and surely He will lift you up and accomplish His plan for you. Let us not murmur nor speak for our cause, but humble ourselves, thank God for everything, bless those against us, keep everything in prayer trusting in the Lord. Bible says, "The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a successful mana" (Genesis 39:2). For us to succeed in our life, we need not talk, but the Lord should be with us. Let us keep our focus on Jesus Christ, stay under His mighty wings, humble ourselves and our Lord will lift us above every situation and make us successful.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen. (2 Corinthians 13:14)

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. (Romans 12:14,16)

But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. (Matthew 5:44,45)

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war should rise against me, In this I will be confident. (Psalms 27:1,3)

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left and I could say, "I used everything that you gave me."
