Prayer For Rain

Posted: 20 Nov 2010 04:19 AM PST

O God, in Whom we live and move,
and have our being,
grant us rain,
in due abundance, that,
being sufficiently helped with temporal,
we may the more confidently seek after eternal gifts.
Through Christ, our Lord.

Amen.

The Prayer Radiating Christ

Posted: 18 Nov 2010 04:17 AM PST

Dear Jesus, help me to spread Your fragrance everywhere I go.
Flood my soul with Your spirit and life.
Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly
that all my life may only be a radiance of Yours.
Shine through me and be so in me
that every soul I come in contact with may feel Your presence in my soul.
Let them look up and see no longer me but only Jesus!
Stay with me and then I shall begin to shine as You shine,
so to shine as to be a light to others;
the light, O Jesus, will be all from You;
none of it will be mine:
it will be You shining on others through me.
Let me thus praise You in the way You love best:
by shining on those around me.
Let me preach You without preaching, not by words, but by my example,
by the catching force,
the sympathetic influence of what I do,
the evident fullness of the love my heart bears to You.

Prayer of Parents for Their Children #1

Posted: 16 Nov 2010 04:45 AM PST

O Jesus, Lover of Children,
bestow Your Most precious graces
on those whom You have confided to our care.
Increase in them Faith, Hope and Charity.
May Your love lead them to solid piety,
inspiring them with dread for sin,
love of work and an ardent desire
of worthily approaching Your Holy Table.
Preserve in them innocence and purity of heart;
and if they should offend You,
grant them the grace of a prompt and sincere repentance.
From Your Tabernacle watch over them day and night;
protect them in all their ways.
Grant that they may acquire the knowledge
that they need to embrace the state of life
to which You have called them.
Grant us a sincere love,
constant vigilance
and generous devotedness towards them.
Grant us all consolation on earth
and eternal reward in heaven.

Prayer For Faith

Posted: 14 Nov 2010 04:15 AM PST

Lord, I believe:
I wish to believe in Thee.
Lord, let my faith be full and unreserved,
and let it penetrate my thought,
my way of judging Divine things and human things.
Lord, let my faith be joyful
and give peace and gladness to my spirit,
and dispose it for prayer with God
and conversation with men,
so that the inner bliss of its fortunate possession
may shine forth in sacred and secular conversation.
Lord, let my faith be humble and not presume
to be based on the experience of my thought and of my feeling;
but let it surrender to the testimony of the Holy Spirit,
and not have any better guarantee than in docility to Tradition
and to the authority of the magisterium of the Holy Church.
Amen.

POPE PAUL VI

A Parent's Prayer For Their Children

Posted: 12 Nov 2010 04:43 AM PST

O Father of mankind,
who hast given unto me these my children,
and committed them to my charge to bring them up for Thee,
and to prepare them for everlasting life:
assist me with Thy heavenly grace,
that I may be able to fulfil this most sacred duty and stewardship.
Teach me both what to give and what to withhold;
when to reprove and when to forbear;
make me gentle, yet firm;
considerate and watchful;
and deliver me equally from the weakness of indulgence,
and the excess of severity;
and grant that, both by word and example,
I may be careful to lead them in the ways of wisdom and true pity,
so that at last I may, with them,
be admitted to the unspeakable joys of our true home in heaven,
in the company of the blessed Angels and Saints.

Amen.

Parent's Prayer

Posted: 10 Nov 2010 04:42 AM PST

All praise to You, Lord Jesus,
Lover of children:
Bless our family,
And help us to lead our children to You.

Give us light and strength,
And courage when our task is difficult.
Let Your Spirit fill us with love and peace,
So that we may help our children to love You.

All glory and praise are Yours, Lord Jesus,
For ever and ever.

Amen.

Pardon Prayer To Sweet Jesus In His Sufferings

Posted: 08 Nov 2010 04:40 AM PST

O my good Jesus, my dear Saviour,
I compassionate Thee in Thy sufferings.
I fervently bless Thee and thank Thee
for all Thou hast done and suffered for me;
give me grace to weep over the sins
and the ingratitude which caused Thy dreadful agony.
Sweet Jesus, mercy!
Pardon me, O Lord,
for my past indifference to Thy love.

Heart of Jesus, burning with love for us,
set our hearts on fire with love of Thee.

May those bonds which confined Thy hands
burst the fetters of my sins,
and restore me to the sweet liberty of Thy children!
I cast myself at Thy Sacred feet,
O my King and my God;
and since Thou hast undergone the humiliation
of allowing Thyself to be bound by Thy creatures,
may I place my happiness in sharing Thy humiliations,
and carrying Thy Cross.

Pange Lingua

Posted: 06 Nov 2010 05:18 AM PDT

Sing, my tongue, the Saviour's glory,
Of His flesh the mystery sing;
Of the blood all price exceeding,
Shed by our immortal King.
Destined for the world's redemption.
From a noble womb to spring.
Of a pure and spotless virgin,
Born for us on earth below,
He, as man with man conversing,
Stay'd, the seeds of truth to sow;
Then He closed in solemn order
Wondrously His life of woe.
On the night of that last supper,
Seated with His chosen band,
He the paschal victim eating,
First fulfils the law's command;
Then, as food of all His brethren,
Gives Himself with His own hand.
Word made flesh, the bread of nature
By His word to flesh he turns;
Wine into His blood he changes:
What though sense no change discerns?
Only be the heart in earnest,
Faith her lesson quickly learns.

Eternal Rest

Posted: 02 Nov 2010 06:22 AM PDT

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

A Catholic Prayer in Praise of the Saints

Posted: 01 Nov 2010 06:20 AM PDT

How shining and splendid are your gifts, O Lord
which you give us for our eternal well-being
Your glory shines radiantly in your saints, O God
In the honour and noble victory of the martyrs.
The white-robed company follow you,
bright with their abundant faith;
They scorned the wicked words of those with this world's power.
For you they sustained fierce beatings, chains, and torments,
they were drained by cruel punishments.
They bore their holy witness to you
who were grounded deep within their hearts;
they were sustained by patience and constancy.
Endowed with your everlasting grace,
may we rejoice forever
with the martyrs in our bright fatherland.
O Christ, in your goodness,
grant to us the gracious heavenly realms of eternal life.

Night Prayer

God, come to my assistance.
Lord make haste to help me.
Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning,
is now and ever shall be,
world without end.

Amen.

O my God, I thank you for having preserved me today
and for having given me so many blessings and graces.
I renew my dedication to you and ask your pardon for
all my sins.

(Make a short review of the day, briefly recalling with gratitude the good things that have happened, and repenting in sincere sorrow the sins you have committed.)

Mary As A Patron Of A Community

Posted: 24 Oct 2010 06:04 AM PDT

Lord Jesus, our Saviour,
You have made Your mother Mary
a faithful follower of God's law
and a chosen member of Your Church.
Through her prayers,
may we continue to grow in Your love.

Lord Jesus, King of all the saints,
we praise You now and for ever.

Amen.

Married Couple's Prayer To The Sacred Heart

Posted: 22 Oct 2010 05:59 AM PDT

(For the ideal union in love of husband for wife and wife for husband, God's examples are before you, Joseph and Mary. Your marriage is something to be appreciated ever more deeply. From time to time meditate on its precious character, as, for example, is suggested in the following prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus for husband and wife to say in their own behalf. We can summarize the spirit of Christian married life no better than in this prayer.)
O most Sacred Heart of Jesus,
King and center of all hearts,
dwell in our hearts and be our King;
grant us by Your grace to love each other truly and chastely,
even as You have loved Your spotless Bride, the Church,
and have given Yourself up for her.

Bestow upon us that mutual love
and Christian forbearance
which are so highly acceptable in Your sight,
and a mutual patience in bearing each other's defects;
for we are certain that no living creature is free from them.
Do not permit even the slightest defect to mar that full and gentle harmony of spirit,
the foundation of the mutual assistance
in the many and varied hardships of life,
that is the end for which woman was created
and united inseparably to her husband.

** (See note below)

O Lord God, grant that between us there may reign a perpetual holy rivalry
toward a life perfectly Christian,
by virtue of which there may shine forth more and more clearly
the Divine image of Your mystic union with Your Holy Church,
as You have deigned to imprint it upon us
on the auspicious day of our being made one.

Grant, we beseech You,
that our good example of Christian living
may serve as a powerful inspiration to our children
to conform their own lives to Your holy law;
and finally, after this exile may we ascend into heaven,
where by the help of Your grace,
for which we earnestly pray,
we may merit to be joined with our children forever
and praise and bless You through everlasting ages.

Amen.

(** If there are no children, the prayer from this point reads:

O Lord God, grant that between us there may reign a perpetual holy rivalry
toward a life perfectly Christian,
by virtue of which there may shine forth more and more clearly
the Divine image of Your mystic union with Your Holy Church,
as You have deigned to imprint it upon us
on the auspicious day of our being made one,
and so living, may both of us ascend into heaven,
and merit to praise You and bless You forever.

Amen.)

Marine's Prayer

Posted: 20 Oct 2010 05:54 AM PDT

Almighty Father, Whose command is over all
and Whose love never fails, make me aware of Thy presence
and obedience to Thy will.
Keep me true to my best self,
guarding me against dishonesty in purpose and deed
and helping me to live so that I can face my fellow marines,
my loved ones and Thee without shame or fear.
Protect my family, give me the will to do the work of a marine
and to accept my share of responsibilities with vigor and enthusiasm.
Grant me the courage to be proficient in my daily performance.
Keep me loyal and faithful to my superiors
and to the duties my country and the Marine Corps have entrusted to me.
Make me considerate of those committed to my leadership.
Help me to wear my uniform with dignity,
and let it remind me daily of the traditions which I must uphold.
If I am inclined to doubt, steady my faith;
if I am tempted, make me strong to resist;
if I should miss the mark, give me courage to try again.
Guide me with the light of truth and grant me wisdom
by which I may understand the answer to my prayer.

Amen.

A Marriage Blessing Prayer

Posted: 18 Oct 2010 05:56 AM PDT

We thank you, O God,
for the Love You have implanted in our hearts.
May it always inspire us to be kind in our words,
considerate of feeling,
and concerned for each other's needs and wishes.
Help us to be understanding and forgiving
of human weaknesses and failings.
Increase our faith and trust in You
and may Your Prudence guide our life and love.
Bless our Marriage O God,
with Peace and Happiness,
and make our love fruitful for Your glory
and our Joy both here and in eternity.

Family Prayer To Maria Bambina

Posted: 16 Oct 2010 05:51 AM PDT

Maria, given us by God,
in the sweetness of the face of a child,
look upon this family
that is your very own
and in your motherliness,
grant perennial youth to our hearts.

May there arise in us
a renewed commitment in our vocation to follow Jesus
and may our charity be more joyful from this day.

Teach us that love can stand
with steadfastness at the foot of the cross.

Majestic Queen Of Heaven

Posted: 14 Oct 2010 05:48 AM PDT

Majestic Queen of Heaven and Mistress of the Angels,
thou didst receive from God the power
and commission to crush the head of Satan;
wherefore we humbly beseech thee,
send forth the legions of heaven,
that, under thy command,
they may seek out all evil spirits,
engage them everywhere in battle,
curb their insolence,
and hurl them back into the pit of hell.
"Who is like unto God?"

O good and tender Mother,
thou shalt ever be our hope
and the object of our love.

O Mother of God,
send forth the holy Angels to defend me
and drive far from me the cruel foe.

Holy Angels and Archangels,
defend us and keep us.

The Magnificat (The Original)

Posted: 12 Oct 2010 05:44 AM PDT

My soul doth magnify the Lord,
And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour,
Because He hath regarded the humility of His handmaid:
for behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed;
Because He that is mighty,
has done great things to me; and Holy is His Name.
And His mercy is from generation unto generations,
to them that fear Him.
He has shewed might in His Arm:
He has scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart.
He has cast down the mighty from their seat,
and has exalted the humble.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich He has sent empty away.
He has received Israel,
His servant, mindful of His mercy.
As He spoke to our fathers,
to Abraham and to his seed, for ever.

O Mary conceived without sin,
pray for us who have recourse to Thee,
and for all those who do not have recourse to Thee,
especially for the Freemasons.

Teacher's Prayer To Saint Joseph #2

Posted: 09 Oct 2010 09:36 AM PDT

O Blessed Saint Joseph,
guardian of the Child Jesus,
we pray that you will help us
in our daily troubles and tribulations
as we try to pass on to our students
all the teachings that they need,
to be able succeed in their chosen professions.
Help us to teach,
and help them to learn.
Guide us all as thou didst guide your most Holy foster Son, Jesus.
Obtain for us the graces we need,
not only to teach and to learn,
but to stay on the path shown
by the Light of Christ.

Amen.

The Offering And Prayer Of Saint Ignatius

Posted: 08 Oct 2010 07:19 AM PDT

Take, O Lord, and receive all my liberty,
my memory, my understanding, and my whole will.
Thou hast given me all that I am and all that I possess:
I surrender it all to Thee
that Thou mayest dispose of it according to Thy will.
Give me only Thy love and Thy grace;
with these I will be rich enough,
and will have no more to desire.

Amen.

Te Deum Laudamus

Posted: 04 Oct 2010 09:29 AM PDT

We praise Thee, O God:
We acknowledge Thee to be the Lord.

All the earth doth worship Thee
And the Father everlasting.

To Thee all Angels:
To Thee the heavens and all the Powers therein.

To Thee the Cherubim and Seraphim:
Cry with unceasing voice:
Holy, Holy, Holy: Lord God of Hosts.

The heavens and the earth are full:
Of the majesty of Thy glory.

Thee the glorious choir:
Of the Apostles.

Thee the admirable company:
Of the Prophets.

Thee the white-robed army of Martyrs:
Praise.

Thee the Holy Church throughout all the world:
Doth acknowledge.

The Father of infinite Majesty.
Thine adorable, true:
And only Son.

Also the Holy Ghost:
The Paraclete.

Thou art the King of Glory:
O Christ.

Thou art the everlasting Son:
Of the Father.

Thou having taken upon Thee to deliver man:
Didst not abhor the Virgin's womb.

Thou having overcome the sting of death:
Didst open to believers the kingdom of heaven.

Thou sittest at the right hand of God:
In the glory of the Father.

We believe that Thou shalt come:
To be our Judge.

We beseech Thee, therefore, help Thy servants:
Whom Thou has redeemed with Thy precious Blood.

Make them to be numbered with Thy Saints:
In glory everlasting.

Lord, save Thy people:
And bless Thine inheritance.

Govern them: and lift them up forever.
Day by day: we bless Thee.

And we praise Thy name forever:
And world without end.

Vouchsafe, O Lord, this day:
To keep us without sin.

Have mercy on us, O Lord:
Have mercy on us.

Let Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us:
As we have hoped in Thee.

O Lord, in Thee have I hoped:
Let me never be confounded.

Teach Us To Love

Posted: 02 Oct 2010 09:25 AM PDT

Lord, we thank Thee for all the love that has been given to us,
for the love of family and friends,
and above all for Your love poured out upon us
every moment of our lives in steadfast glory.

Forgive our unworthiness.
Forgive the many times we have disappointed those who love us,
have failed them,
wearied them,
saddened them.
Failing them we have failed You,
and hurting them we have wounded our Saviour
who for love's sake died for us.
Lord, have mercy on us,
and forgive.

You do not fail those who love you.
You do not change nor vary.
Teach us Your own constancy in love.
Your humility, selflessness and generosity.

Look in pity on our small and tarnished loving,
protect, foster and strengthen it,
that it may be less unworthy to be offered to You
and to Your children.
O Light of the world, teach us how to love.

Amen.
