Re: [FamilyofGod] Roll call
Hey, George. I am here. We went to church today. We were talking about joining it soon actually. The people at this church are so welcoming and so friendly -- and it is genuine. That is appealing to me. It is nice to be able to attend a church and feel like a family. We are slowly getting more involved and want to see all aspects of the church before we join. We had to fill in with the handbell choir today. We went to Bible Study on Wednesday night and happened to be talking to the handbell director when she received a phone call that one of her bell ringers wasn't going to be there today for the performance in church. She turned to me and jokingly said, "Can you play bells?" I ended up walking out with music to learn for today. When we got there, Ravi picked up a couple extra bells to fill out the sound. It worked out just fine. We ate lunch, took a nap, watched the basketball game we have been waiting to watch for months, playing some video games together, ate dinner, and now Ravi is fast asleep -- I am still awake because I am an unfortunate insomniac. I wish I could sleep like normal people. :P
Prayer -- to get a job soon! I decided NOT to apply for the position that was asking questions I find to be demeaning and just immoral. I don't feel it is right to ask for someone's "physical defects" on a job application. American Disabilities Act states it is illegal to ask that of a job applicant. And get this -- this is a Christian school! Nice, huh? I am applying for a bank teller position, substitute teacher in the public school system in this county and well as the city schools (different school systems here), and anything else I can find elsewhere. I have already applied for others, but nothing seems to be happening. I am going to call a couple places tomorrow.
Also, for our finances. I am not behind in bills. I am not worried about not having food, it is just the way it is right now. When Ravi got this job, we had to move QUICKLY! This meant that we didn't have time to save up for a move. With the way his pay schedule is, he didn't get a pay check for a month into the job. So, the first month we moved here we were in the hole, and now we are crawling out it slowly. If we had time to save up for the move, we wouldn't be having this problem. We just want to be able to have some money left over at the end of the month because we would like to save up for some stuff (christmas gifts, a car for me [trust me when I say that it is a NEED not a want], paying off my student loan debt faster than anticipated would be nice as well). We are okay right now because we end up even at the end of the month. I know this because I am the one in charge of the finances -- not Ravi. I have better money management skills because I have better mathematics skills -- also I have been dealing with my own finances longer than he has because his parents wouldn't ALLOW him to deal with his when he was in school (No, that isn't an exaggeration). So, the money is up to me. So, any prayers there would be appreciated as we are still trying to get things straight! Thanks!!!
There is an optimistic belief widespread among the generous-hearted that the average human being has only to become sufficiently acquainted with another's trouble or danger to transfer it to his own shoulders not merely unhesitatingly but gladly. --Margery Allingham
