I agree. Since we're on the subject. I need your opinion, and the opinion of others, if I am doing right about forgiveness in a situation that I am in:

My father never really had a relationship with me growing up, although we lived in the same home. He cheated on my mother a lot, and when my brother and I were young, he would even take us over to the women's homes and play with their children. We were young and ignorant and really did not put two and two together (until we were older). We just obeyed when he said not to tell our mother (although we did when we were older). My father also sexually molested me when I was 14 off and on for a year. I do not know if I truly hated him for it, but I know that I was terrified of being around him. I would literally jump if he came around and it was terrible for me. I told my mom, and she didn't believe me at first. That hurt, but she eventually did. The older I got, the worser our relationship got (my father and I). I developed such a smart mouth and acted out (not in school, just in the home). Then, when he and my mom finally separated, I refused to see him. Since he's moved out, I have only seen him a few times. He doesn't call, come by, or try to be a part of my life or the lives of my three children. I have forgiven him for what he did and I still honor him as God says I should. After all, he is still my father. I just do not want to be in a relationship with him or be around him. I've prayed about it, but still, after all these years, have not received a clear answer from God as to whether or not this is how to handle this situation. What are your views?

Yur welcome LaShanda. I do think it is good to forgive all. But even with that sometimes we can't associate with the person. Forgive but don't participate in the sin or be a part of it.

I think it is like when Jesus hung on the cross. He said, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do." It is to our advantage that we forgive even without the repentance. Having unforgiveness in our hearts causes a root of bitterness to grow.

pray with me about this, i know the scripture says we are to forgive 70 times 7 in one day. if they never repent for what they do then what?
