[FamilyofGod] On The Night in Which He Was Betrayed

On The Night in Which He Was Betrayed

The life of our Lord Jesus Christ on this earth is an example for us to follow and it is written in Bible for us to learn and do according to them. By the grace of God, let us meditate on some things that happened on the night before our Lord Jesus Christ was betrayed and see how we can apply them in our life and grow more in the Lord.

Remember Lord Jesus Christ: We have many desires in our life and our Lord Jesus Christ also had a desire, yes, to eat the Passover with His disciples. (Then He said to them, "With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; Luke 22:15). Bible says, "And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me." Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you. (Luke 22:19,20). As we take the bread and wine every month, let us remember our Lord Jesus Christ and take part in the Lord's Supper.

Bible says, "For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes". (1 Corinthians 11:26). By remembering our Lord Jesus Christ and taking part in the Lord's Table, we proclaim the death of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross, the blood He shed for us through which we have victory over sin, sickness and curses. In His death we have life; in His death we have victory; in His death we have peace; in His death we have salvation and by His death we are more than conquerors in everything.

Let us desire to take part in the Lords Table remembering our Lord Jesus proclaiming His death. And most importantly, let us examine ourselves and take part in the Lord's Table in a worthy manner in the fear of God as we read in 1 Corinthians 11.

Pray more earnestly: After taking the Passover, our Lord went to pray in the garden of Gethsemane in Mount of Olives. (Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him. Luke 22:39). And Bible says, He knelt down and prayed, saying, "Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done." (Luke 22:41,42). Our Lord Jesus Christ knelt down and prayed for the Father's will to be done. Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. (Luke 22:43). When He received the strength from heaven, He prayed more earnestly. (Luke 22:44).

Our Lord Jesus did not pray just before taking the cross, He had made prayer as His custom. Let us also make prayer a custom in our lives. Our Lord knelt down and prayed for Father's will to be done. Let us also make it a practice to kneel down in our prayer and ask for our Lord's will to be done in our lives. We also see in Matthew 4:1-11, after fasting and prayer, Jesus Christ faced the temptations and came victorious. Let us be diligent and overcome the temptations we face by our earnest prayers.

When our Lord received strength from heaven, He prayed more earnestly. By God's grace as we fast and pray, the Lord will renew our strength; and as we are strengthened let us pray earnestly that the Lord's will be done in our lives and in the lives of people around us.

Claim deliverance by His blood:  Bible says, "And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground". (Luke 22:44). Earning by sweating was not the plan of God when He created man in the Garden of Eden; it came as a curse on man (In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust you shall return." Genesis 3:19). By the sweat of our Lord Jesus Christ that became like great drops of blood, God has removed the curses of toiling for our living. It is the will of God that all curses be removed from our lives and be blessed to worship and serve Him in liberty.

Jesus Christ came to this world, to give Himself on the cross and shed His precious blood for you and me. Bible says, Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree", (Galatians 3:13). On the cross our Lord Jesus Christ has redeemed us from the curse of law by His precious blood. Let us pray and claim the blood of Jesus Christ on our lives, so that we will inherit all the spiritual and physical blessings of Abraham (Galatians 3:14).

And as the Lord bless us, let us spend more time with the Lord in praising Him remembering His wonderful works, in prayer and seek His kingdom and His righteousness. Bible says, "You shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. (Deuteronomy 8:18).

Beloved brethren, let us take part in the Lord's Table remembering our Lord Jesus and proclaiming His death and experience His victory He has given us on the cross. As our Lord strengthens us by the power of His Holy Spirit, let us pray earnestly for the will of God to be enthroned in our lives. Let us pray and claim the deliverance our Lord has given us through His blood for a blessed life. As the Lord bless us, let us love our Lord Jesus Christ with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind and all our strength by obeying His commandments and seeking His righteousness.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (Matthew 6:33).

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed. (1 Peter 2:24)

Remember
Only one life, will soon be past,
Only what is done, for Christ will last.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen. (2 Corinthians 13:14)
