Throw Aways
Matthew 18: 5,6: "And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receives me. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea."
In this dispensation of time we have become a disposable throwaway world. All material things are purposely designed and manufactured now for short-term use and then to be thrown away. There are drive through restaurants, drive through weddings, drive up churches, single use disposable cameras, microwave ovens that prepare a meal almost instantly, and instant foods that are ready in seconds, to name a few. As a throwaway world, when something breaks just throw it in the trash and get another one. There are even throwaway gods now. If the present one is not filling all of mans wants and desires then throw it away and create another that will serve him better. You will also find throwaway love, throwaway marriages and throwaway children.
Of all the blessings God has given man, and all the great numbers of blessings man has disposed of; and of all the joys, wonders and miracles humanity has destroyed and thrown away, the saddest and most depressing of all is a throwaway child. Unfortunately the phrase 'throwaway child' is not just a cliché or generic term with a rambling meaning; it means exactly what it says. Each year there are millions of people, mothers and (mothers to be), that throw out their children like the daily trash. Without a doubt the most common throwaway method is an abortion; and the six most common methods for abortion are: Dilation and Curettage, Vacuum Aspiration, Dilation and Evacuation, Saline Injection, Hysterotomy, and Prostaglandin Chemical Abortion. Regardless of how it is done it is still a murder conspiracy between the mother and the doctor. It is playing God by killing a life, a gift that was created by God for man. Can you not imagine how disgusting and offensive it must be to God, as he watches His gift of a baby being willfully destroyed, so the woman can pay homage to her god of self-gratification? And you know that, because the foundation of God is love, He will forgive and forget the murder of His little one, if the mother will repent to Him with a broken heart and in total truth. No doubt abortion is a horrific way to kill a child, but by no means is it the only or the slowest way.
Children-things we throw away? How much more non-personal can it be than to call a human being 'a thing'? In South America they are called The Gamines, 'the disposable ones', the children who live, and all too often die in the streets, never knowing what it is to have a home and a family to go to. These disposable ones generally range in ages from four or five to teenagers, if they live that long. In Mexico and parts of South America they are also called 'Los Ninos de la Calle', the street children. Each country in the world has its own name for the 'throwaway children'. Regardless of what they are called, they are still deserted, abandoned, unloved, unneeded, unwanted, beaten, robbed, abused, raped, mercilessly tortured, and murdered... and no one even cares...not the government, not the people, not their families, no one. Why? Because they are the Gamines, Los Ninos de la Calle, The Children of the Street, unnecessary and unwanted by society. The Gamines are not indicative of third world or developing counties only, they are very real in the United States also. To be rejected, brutalized, and hated with no hope, no future and no life is a long slow process of dying, and even after death they want be missed. Each country has its own name depicting these throwaways of society, and the end result is always the same, death. Street children and abortions are only two ways to throw away a child. Another that happens too often is to throw the infant, with the umbilical cord still attached, out of the window of a fast moving automobile. Another more prevalent is to place the baby in a garbage bag and literally throw it in a garbage can or dumpster.
What a horrible stench the death of each of these throwaway children must be in the nostrils of God. But then we live in a throwaway world don't we, and what does it matter what we throw away? How often are non-profitable things, like love, faith, charity, mercy, and hope thrown away? In the New Testament Jesus clearly says that the single greatest commandment for man is love, and throughout the New Testament He constantly refers to man being as a child in order to enter the gates of heaven. If humanity is not humane and freely throws children away like dirty trash, then into whose trash does the same man throw his soul? Hint: God has no trash!
