WORLD LEADERS. "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence" (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong of Laos (southeastern Asia, between Thailand and Vietnam).
AFRICA SUPPORT CENTER TEAMS. Ministering to the unreached of Madagascar is a priority for the Communication Team. Training followers of Christ to share their faith is an important aspect of this ministry. Mahafaly Christians in Madagascar will learn to compose praise songs in their heart language during a February 22-26 music workshop led by two Communication Team members. Pray for a fruitful time of learning and creating new songs. The following two weeks, team members will initiate a two-year project for engaging four of the island nation's unreached people groups. National believers who want to share the Gospel through oral means will be trained in biblical storying methods. Pray for good communication during the training sessions as well as when the trainees go out to share what they have learned.
TAIPEI, TAIWAN (tie-BAY). Chinese New Year has come and gone on paper, but the superstitions linger for a lifetime. Many people live in fear of not appeasing either their dead relatives or the local deities. Some who would love to break away from this family tradition are trapped by the fear of being ostracized. A Project Taipei Team member writes: "One young man told me that his parents think he will grow out of his desire to be a Christ follower. He is adamant that he will not. He desires to walk through the steps of obedience, which include baptism, but his parents will not accept this idea. Please pray for the thousands of believers like this one who are caught between their family traditions and cultural expectations and their true desire to honor their decision to become a Christian. Please pray that those who believe will be a living testimony to God's goodness and faithfulness in their lives. Pray that as the new year begins, many will take a firm stand, be baptized, and commit to discipleship. Pray that our team will be faithful in making fruitful disciples this year." kctaipei@hotmail.com
