TODAY'S PRAYER
IMB
FEBRUARY 22, 2011
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek." (Romans 1:16)
WORLD LEADERS. "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence" (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis of Latvia (eastern Europe, between Estonia and Lithuania).
JOLA-FONYI OF SENEGAL AND THE GAMBIA (JOH-luh-FOH-nyee). Thank you for praying for the two partnership teams that came in December. The team from a church in West Virginia was warmly welcomed in the English classes at the high school in Koubanau and also in the village. One of the English teachers is a believer, and he is interested in helping the volunteers start a Bible study with some of the teachers as well as others who may be interested. Pray for them to get this started when they come again in April. The trip to Dioloulou, by the group from Idaho, went very well. The church there is still going strong and seeing new people showing an interest in what is being taught. Please be in prayer for A., the young man acting as pastor for the church. He prepares and delivers the sermon on Sunday, helps prepare those who teach another study on Monday, and has to earn a living by fishing. Pray that he will be encouraged to remain faithful and that he will have the time to give to strengthen those to whom he ministers. Pray that others will step up to lighten the load. http://youradmin.imbresources.org/index.cfm/fa/ct.go/LID/39396/m/9988/sID/0903JC405AA65A52A08872541.cfm
THAILAND. Southern Thailand is a beautiful land filled with hundreds of miles of gorgeous beaches, luscious rainforests, and rich resources like rubber trees, palm oil, seafood, and cultivated fruit. However, in the midst of this natural beauty live 8 million people in desperate need of the Savior. Although the practice of Christianity is legal in Thailand, the hearts of most people here remain closed to the Gospel. Many engage in the worship of spirits, which only leads to emptiness, hopelessness and alienation from God. Cry out to God to have mercy on the lost people of southern Thailand. Pray that Thai believers will have a clear understanding of what it means to be saved by grace, rather than by works. Pray that they will be filled with the Holy Spirit's boldness to share the Gospel with others. Ask God to open the hearts of the people in southern Thailand so that the seeds sown will fall on soil ready to receive.
