2/18/2011 Cambodia (AsiaNews) Cambodia Closes a Refugee Camp for Vietnamese
Christians-
The Cambodian government has closed a UN camp that housed refugees from the
ethnic Montagnard minority as well as other victims of persecution and abuse by
authorities in Hanoi. The group is mostly composed of evangelical Christians
from poor inland areas.
Human rights activists are appealing to Phnom Penh and urging the government to
comply with the directives of the UN Convention on the Rights of Refugees. Even
more concerning is the future of some of the affected exiles, who are now in the
hands of the Cambodian government. The government had previously sig
