And NBC's Brian Williams proclaimed that citizens are "rising up and saying no to some of the most extreme cuts in the nation." All this in response to an effort by the Wisconsin governor to bridge a $3 billion budget shortfall by proposing modest cuts in healthcare and pension benefits to state employees. "This is a statist uprising that is being fueled by leftist politicians and the leftist media," says Grassfire Nation's Steve Elliott. "Wisconsin's governor is proposing that state union workers should pay a little more of their health benefits (from 6% to 12%) and the media calls this America's Cairo moment? This is outrageous and is designed to fuel the rising tide of statism." ACTION: Sound off and join the discussion on the leftist-fueled "statist uprising" that is taking place.
2. Media: Tea Party "Destroying Republican Party" This from our friends at Media Research Center... The liberal media have launched a systematic campaign to demean and discredit the new Tea Party and conservative leaders. And with each passing day, it gets worse. The Leftist media laughs as Chris Matthews and others openly question whether Sarah Palin is smart enough to run for president or assign a "nut case" label to Rep. Michele Bachmann. Their pundits pontificate that the "Tea Party" movement is "destroying the Republican party" in a clear effort to undermine and radicalize citizens like you and me. And the media mock any effort by new conservatives to slow down runaway government spending. ACTION: The Media Research Center is asking citizens to sign their petition to STOP THE LIBERAL MEDIA'S ATTACKS ON TEA PARTY LEADERS. Go here now to take a stand.
3. ObamaCare Funding Stays... For Now House Republicans are moving forward with significant budget cuts in this year's Continuing Resolution (CR), but have failed to support Rep. Steve King's effort to FULLY DEFUND ObamaCare. As a result, only a few million dollars in ObamaCare funding is on the chopping blocks, while more than $105 BILLION in Pelosi's "automatic spending" remains. According to Rep. King, "[T]he question that is hanging out there is: [Was the House leadership] ready for a confrontation with the president and Harry Reid on this issue? And that is a question that hangs in my mind. I don't know that answer. I am ready for that confrontation. We must have it if we are going to eliminate ObamaCare." Rep. King promises to bring the issue of DEFUNDING OBAMACARE up soon, likely when Congress votes on whether to raise the debt ceiling. ACTION: It is urgent that citizens express their voice on the issue of whether ObamaCare should be FULLY or PARTIALLY defunded right now.
