Saving the World - One Person at a Time
"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10)
When I was growing up, I used to love reading, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, The Hardy Boys, The Famous Five, Tin Tin and superhero comics, because they involved people risking their lives and saving the world. Wow, I always wanted to save the world. Somehow I don't think I will ever really do that though. But I can save someone from spending a lifetime in hell. And I can encourage someone who's hurting - and to me that is in a way "saving the world".
I used to think that God couldn't use me, I didn't think He had a plan for my life. But I know realize that God has a special assignment and mission for EACH believer, including myself. God created us to do good works - no matter how weak we think we are.
The exciting thing with God handing out our special assignments is that each assignment is different. He's not going to give the same task to two people. God created each person with a unique combination of talents and gifts. The assignments God gives us will depend on what talents and gifts we have. How exciting to know that I have an assignment no one else has! That also means that if we don't follow through with the assignments God gives us, they might not get done!
What assignment is God giving you right now? What gifts and talents do you have? Are you using them to "save the world"? Don't forget - you're one of God's Special Agents too! This is definitely a reality show you don't want to miss!
Prayer: Dear God, how exciting to know that you have a special plan for me. I never thought of myself as being on mission with You before. Help me to use my special gifts and talents to reach the world. Help me to see how You've gifted me and to use my life wisely. Amen.
