[Church_of_Christ] Re: church of christ agreement
Greetings Clay,
I found Jay's article entertaining and certainly fictional. I mostly
enjoy your posts and our bantering back and forth. I suspect you do as
well. It is intended by me and I trust by you as positive.
This post raised a question for me: What would you have an invited
preacher to do? Would you have him to speak other than what he believed?
Would you have him poll the congregation as to what they thought he
should say? Why must it be divisive to simply teach what you believe? If
what he taught was not the general belief of the congregation, do you
suppose that the elders would allow him to continue teaching? You, Clay,
and others make all kinds of statements that some find outlandish, are
you not using this forum as an opportunity to speak what you believe as
if you are the pope himself? What is the difference? I see none.
You and others have told me over and again that I need to give up my
beliefs, that they are divisive, that I need to get in line with you and
them - what are you doing different than your big name preacher? Not one
thing! You talk freedom and then insist on robbing me of my freedom to
read and study and apply the scripture as I see it applies to me.
