Ray: I find this to be a highly challenging and controversial topic. In part I agree with you. One of the most arrogant post-modern beliefs is expressed well by your words here. Many higher educated people think that we are the first in history to think critically. But I have serious problems appreciating the biblical illiteracy and shallowness of the generations that preceded me. I do not find the early 20th century to have many educated believers who questioned or tested anything we hold dear. We have to go much further back in time to find people who did that.
